This was my second adoption from SCR and yet again I have nothing but gratitude and admiration. They work so hard for the cats on such little budget, and really take the time to get to know the cats in their care. The manager seems to know immediately which cat will suit you, and we have managed to introduce our second cat with no real trouble - she is a beatiful, friendly little cat with a big personality and a lot of love to give. The shelter is quite remote, but they will give directions if you call, and it is clean, quiet and friendly. They also were happy to rehome with a suitable child, which Cats Protection were not - a stance I cannot understand when looking for loving homes.

My 21 yr old cat died before Christmas and I wanted to visit their old cats. I fell in love with Timmy. I was made fully aware of his age and health issues and given tons of advice on care and medication and given his vet details. I wanted a new carrier for him and they sold me one. When Timmy inevitably was pts due to old age and illness I told Stray Cat Rescue and they were so lovely and genuinely missed him.

The cats at the rescue centre we all obviously well cared for. The staff there had very good knowledge of the cats in their care and were really helpful when helping us chose the right pet for our family. We were so impressed that we signed up to sponsor one of the older cats who is a permanent resident at the shelter. Adoption: October 2013

I called the shelter and got through first time. We were given great directions so it was easy to find. The cats all appear in good health and are well looked after. We adopted a very shy and timid young male cat who has really come out of his shell now he has settled in. The adoption processes was very straight forward and our home check was done really quickly. We went for our first visit on Saturday 23rd March, home check on 29th March and picked the cat up on 30th March! They only ask for a small donation of £40 as well which is very good compared to other places we considered.
Also, the Facebook page is really well run and a great way of seeing some of the cats currently at the shelter and keeping up to date with those that have been re-homed.
I would recommend Stray Cat Rescue to anyone looking to offer a home to a new cat. Adoption: March 2013

Having visited a couple of rescues and been turned away because of my 3 year old, SCR were the first to talk to me properly. I understand why some shelters don't like homing with young children, but a home visit and long chat soon made it clear that not all 3 year olds are alike.
The rescue is out of the way, but clean, and well run. We wanted a personality match more than a specific breed or colour, so had a long chat with the lady who runs the rescue, who said she'd think about likely candidates. We went and met two, and immediately chose one of them. The process was followed up by a home visit, and our kitty was at home the following weekend. The match is perfect, and we are very happy indeed with our little fella who seems to think we make a good match for him. He was neutered, de flead and ready to go, settling in almost immediately.
The minimum donation is only £40, but these guys can certainly use every penny, if you can do a bit more. I thoroughly recommend them, and hope that they continue their sterling work. Adoption: Feb 2013

Stray Cat Rescue is run tirelessly by Bev who despite a full time job never refuses to take a needy cat and always finds room. The volunteers are all die hard cat lovers and go out of their way to fuss the cats when they are cleaning the pens. Adoption: July 2012

The charity owner lives on site and is therefore very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable of all the cats. We had a leisurely tour and were able to ask as many questions as we liked. The website felt quite basic, but they have since created a very good presence online via Facebook and through fund-raising, which has raised the profile of the cats in their care considerably. Bravo! Adoption: April 2012
