From the first conversation about adopting our dog their information about the dog was very clear and you really felt the dogs best interests were in their hearts.
The home visit was carried out well with lots of advice and help.
When we picked our dog up from them they made us very welcome and made it very clear we could call anytime time for help and advice.
Good to know there are people like them in this world.Review by: Lynne Papacharalambous

We have been so lucky to have re-homed many dogs over the years from this rescue. This rescue is dedicated, loving, honest and thorough in their checking and re-homing the right dog with the right person. We trust them implicitly to ensure we are taking the right dog into our home and family. Always a pleasure to deal with, I would highly recommend them.

My wife Renata and I are on our 3rd and 4th RRT rotties (Eric and Ernie), having already had our wonderful Charlie and Ellie also, sadly eventually lost to old age, but having been the most beautiful dogs leaving indelible marks on our hearts.
P, S and C are wonderful people, I simply cannot imagine anyone who has done more for our lovely breed. Nothing is ever too much trouble; knowledgeable advice is but a phone call away even years after rescuing a dog - they know it all and have seen it all!
Also very compassionate during those sad times when you lose a dog, and always knowing a good "match" for returning adopters. Eric and Ernie are the loveliest, sweetest pair imaginable.
All credit to this wonderful rescue, and long may it continue to do what it does so, so well.Review by: Simon Ferenczi

I first made contact with Pete and Shelley about 6 years ago desperate for advice to help with our unruly recently adopted (from another rescue) rottweiler who we were on the brink of having to take back for various reasons. Within a week we'd taken them up on their offer to visit their weekly training sessions and we never looked back and Roxy remains part of my life to this day. Two years later and we'd adopted two dogs from them, Luther (the world's most amazing dog) followed by Woody (a close second!). What stood out was their knowledge and absolute passion for the breed along with Lorraine and all the other supporters who give up their time. Whatever problem you think your dog has, they've seen worse and you're made to feel so welcome. Roxy will live forever because she's that kind of madam, but I know that one day, I'll be back to Pete and Shelley for my 3rd from them!

We found Shelley and peter lovely people who obviously cared a lot about the dogs in their care and their own dogs, the facilities are amazing for any animals and their extensive knowledge was very helpful even though we had a Rottweiler a few years ago and sadly lost him to cancer. Totally recommend RRT to anybody. Thanks again Shelley and peter x

RRT works from their home address. The facilities they have are first rate. Large gardens and faculties for all rescues to play with their own dogs. Contacted RRT regarding adoption and as I have a 17 month staffie/American bulldog cross I was advised to visit to see if any dog would suit. I had looked at other rescues and not found one that could match my puppy to a dog. First meeting with a little 7 year female Cleo was off to a super start. Played and then we had a serious discussion about adoption. Arrangements made for visit after little Reggie was castrated and when visit made with home check on 11/04/17 the pair were a match made in heaven. RRT know their dogs and their needs. I was informed at the first visit that the dogs were the first priority and not my wants. They do know what they are about. If anyone is thinking about adopting a Rottie then please contact RRT as the dogs come first. They also provide a full time follow up check on all their dogs to ensure they are Happy.

Our second from RRT. They are just excellent and their assessment of the dogs in their care is second to none as is their obvious love for the breed and their welfare. We have 2 dogs from the Rottweiler Rescue Trust, they really do match the dogs for your home, a home assessment was carried out prior to re-homing, we would 100% recommend getting a rescue from Shelley & Pete, we now have 2 happy well balanced dogs, Holly was put into rescue due to a relationship breakup, she is the easiest Rottie you could meet, Herbie was a stray found in Birmingham, he was so underweight and was due to be put to sleep at the pound he was in until RRT stepped in, we had just lost our 11yr old Rottie and I wanted another little boy, he has gained weight and loves Holly to pieces and her him.

Such wonderful people that really know what they are talking about. I can not thank them enough for allowing us to bring Gem home.
We were advised of Gem's dietary requirements and the work that was still needed with her. We are still going with this work as we understand that she can't be changed overnight.Review by: Nic

A breed specific rescue who always put the needs of the dogs in their care 1st, which might not always be well received by the people enquiring, but they know their dogs and what they can or can't cope with.
Their knowledge is 2nd to none, and they are always available to provide guidance and support for as long as it's needed. We've been lucky enough to have been trusted with 2 of their charges in the last 2 years, and still regularly attend the training classes they provide free of charge to any of "their" dogs.
A true rescue, they understand that circumstances can sometimes unfortunately change, and they have (and still do) take on those dogs which other rescues won't touch, our latest addition is 11 and other Rescues would have just put her to sleep because of her age.Review by: TKav

I have adopted three dogs from Rottweiler rescue trust over a period of three years. Each dog has been different but lovely and each dog was matched to my existing dog. They have always been introduced to each other before hand and everything is always done in a professional manner. I think this rescue is wonderful and really cares about the dogs they have. I shall always go back.

RRT is run by totally dedicated people who have the current and future well being of every Rottie in mind. The Facebook page is a wonderful source of back up, chat, support, sympathy when needed and info too.
Our rescued Rottie is a beautiful girl who we are very grateful to have been accepted to own. Genuine, Rottweiler potential adopters will be greeted with warmth and support.
However, idiots who have no idea of the needs of either owning a dog or this breed in particular will not be entertained - which is what I would look for in a rescue organisation. The welfare of the dog is always, always put first - there is surely no other way to run the rehoming of a dog who may have already had an unfortunate start or upset later in life, whether through bad ownership or unavoidable change of circumstance.

RRT take considerable care to ensure that there is a good match for the requirements of the dogs and owners. The dogs are kept in a loving and caring environment and are thoroughly assessed, so there are no surprises as to behaviour, health etc. RRT also have regular training sessions whilst the dogs are in their care. We keep in regular touch with them and other owners and follow all the dogs for adoption. You are made to feel part of a family and their dedication to the welfare of the breed is commendable and highly professional.

The carers of the dogs obviously have a lot of experience and care a great deal for the dog's. I can not thank the team enough the dog we have been given is a perfect match for our family. Obviously a great deal of thought and care goes into where the dogs will be placed. The dogs are very well assessed as well as the family adopting. The process is quick and painless to adopting a dog with this rescue team. I am so impressed with the care consideration yet relaxed attitude this team have. Being a newly assessed owner of a dog is very nerve racking, and can often add stress to the situation.
THIS TEAM ARE A FANTASTIC DOWN TO EARTH LOVING TEAM.

One word for Rottweiler rescue trust........AMAZING!!!!!!
The care, love and passion for all the dogs in their care is amazing.
We were warmly welcomed and invited to attend a training session with them. They introduced each dog to us and advised us on which one they felt met our requirements. Straight away you could tell peter and shelley knew exactly what they were talking about and had so much advice to give us. This whole process was so easy and resulted in us adopting our handsome boy KAI. We cannot recommend them enough to anyone looking to adopt a Rottweiler!!!Review by: Lisa steele

We adopted our beautiful Rottweiler cross from Rottweiler Friends Rescue in June 2015 & we couldn't be more in love. Before rehoming her we were in touch with the rescue & explained the needs we had as a family before rehoming a new dog (ie. We have cats, a existing dog & young children) & the rescue were amazing, they waited until a suitable Rottie came in & they matched us up well. I would highly recommend this rescue, the animals there are clearly well loved, they have friendly experiance staff & volunteers who are always there to help.

We've now been been lucky enough to be trusted with two adoptees from RRT - a puppy and now an older chap. I can't recommend RRT highly enough, run by tirelessly dedicated, exceptionally knowledgeable team, the long term well being of their dogs is their priority. We were carefully vetted, our home checked and then a dog was suggested - the team was spot on, and our girl was/is perfect for us, a match made in heaven (to use a cliche), likewise the chap we recently bought home is wonderful too. I think the most important aspect however, is the ongoing commitment to the dogs - an RRT dog is an RRT dog for life, they will always be there to offer support, advice, and if the worst comes to the worst, take the dog back (if only all breeders did the same!). RRT is wonderful rescue, for a wonderful breed and we're very grateful for all they do.

Congratulations on finding Rottweiler Rescue Trust. You can't be at better place if you are thinking about adopting a Rottweiler.
We've got Our Jessie in May 2013 and our case was probably bit different because none of us, neither me nor my partner, had any previous experience with owning a dog. We contacted quite a few rescues and enquired about Rottewilers in their care, but all those rescues refused to talk to us because of our lack of experience.
We were almost at the point where we would buy a puppy when I found out about RRT. I sent them an email and they invited us over to their kennels to see what they do and to meet their dogs. It was during this first visit that we realised why we were turned down by all the other rescues. Experience is an absolute must. It is absolutely vital to have at least basic understanding of the breed before you can start thinking about getting a dog.
After the first visit it was more than obvious that we have a long way to go if we want to adopt a dog or buy a puppy. Luckily people from RRT were ready to help us. They let me come to kennels during the week when they were walking their dogs and they patiently answered all my questions. They let me watch while they were working with their dogs. I saw dogs coming in and out of rescue, I was there when they were doing dog assessments, they invited me to their trainings and after some time they let me take one of the rescue dogs to the training classes so I got a chance to learn the basics of dog handling.
After about two months they told me they might have a dog for us and they put us together with our beautiful Jessie. Actually I've been there when Jessie's original family brought her to the rescue, but at that time I didn't know that one day she will be mine. They brought her in and she was then taken for an assessment which was done in a special pen in the field. After that she was going to kennels and I remember how sad and confused she was when we came back to car park and her family was not there.
It didn't end up with adoption though. We were very welcome to come to Sunday training classes and we were welcome to contact RRT whenever we needed training or behaviour advice. I kept going back for months.
After some time we found fairly good training classes closer to our home so we stopped going to rescue, but I still have fond memories of those times.
We recently rehomed second Rottweiler. He didn't come to us through RRT (we got him directly from the family who couldn't' look after him anymore), but when people from RRT found out we have a new dog they gave us a courtesy call and offered free training and behaviour advice for our new boy.
If you decide you want to adopt a dog through RRT, you can be sure, you will get a dog that was properly assessed and socialised. It will be a dog that was most likely taken to some training classes and therefore is used to training routine so it will be fairly easy for you to take over and continue. You'll get as much support as you need and it is quite possible you'll make new friends along the way.
These people do understand Rottweilers.

Six years ago I adopted a 10 months old Rottweiler from the Trust. We were offered every advice we might need and took the dog on in the security that if all went wrong despite our experience as dog owners, the Trust would take her back as a last resort. We have maintained contact with the Trust ever since and value their input when problems arise (which they rarely but inevitably do). I cannot recommend the dedicated few who run the Trust too highly.

Excellent rescue organisation run by kind, dedicated and highly experienced people. Dogs kept in 5 star kennels with daily walks or with fosterers. Non destruct policy and all dogs are trained by dog behaviourists and experienced volunteer handlers. RRT offers a weekly FREE training class for any Rottweiler not just their own dogs which is brilliant and some remarkable results are achieved. Friendly advice always available along with practical help. New owners are carefully vetted and dogs matched expertly with suitable homes. Would highly recommend the Rottweiler Rescue Trust as their first consideration is the dogs well being and future.

On my initial contact with Rottweiler Rescue Trust, I found my interview process to be very thorough (without being interigational) and also extremely informative, I had owned Rottweilers in the past but now had children therefore needed extra guidance. On our visit to the kennels, I had explained to the children that not all dogs were suitable for all people or family situations, I need not have worried the Rescue Trust I think, have an uncanny skill in matching people to dogs and our love affair with Wallace began right there and then. In conclusion I cannot speak highly enough of Rottweiler Rescue Trust, the tireless work, specialized extensive knowledge and genuine love that is clearly on display for all their dogs both resident and re-homed is truly awe inspiring. We will always be so grateful to them.

All the team at the RRT are dedicated people for the breed they love....All my dogs 4 of the 5 have come from the rescue. They are a credit to the rescues and they are a pleasure to meet with a very relaxed atmosphere and a thorough meet and greet. They spend all their time in helping the dogs and the dogs welfare is their up most importance for the dogs. All the dogs given their own individual needs if its training or medical care nothing is too much for them! They are all a pleasure to meet and have involvement with.

The trust and staff was very helpful & supportive & still remain so. Assessments are made on all dogs & possible owners to ensure that a match is available. The dogs are very well looked after & only rehomed once fully assessed, giving vital information and background for new possible owners. Follow up visits are also carried out to ensure both dog & new owners are happy. I would recommend this trust for anyone considering rehoming a Rottweiler.

Rottweiler Rescue Trust. always put the health and welfare of their dogs first. The staff and volunteers are extremely kind and knowledgeable. All dogs are health checked, vaccinated, chipped and spayed and assessed. Potential adopters are assessed for their suitability to adopt and given as much information and help, as possible. This rescue does everything, it can, to make sure that dogs and owners are right for each other and will do all they can to help with any post adoption problems. I have nothing but praise for the ethos and professional but caring approach. They treat each dog as an individual and get to know them. This is evident in their write up and by the care they take to rehome each dog with the right forever family. This is a small in size rescue but very big in heart, they are so careful and caring. I would recommend them to anyone & without hesitation. The best rescue ive ever known. Sandy

I have had many rescued dogs and indeed worked in a few rescue centres myself, and I can, hand on heart, say I think the RRT is THE best charity to adopt a Rottweiler from. The people who run this charity know the breed inside out, but more importantly, they take their time to make sure they know and get to understand every dog they have in their care - thoroughly, so they can make a suitable match for the dog and a prospective home. Unlike some charities, the RRT have been known to take on the more "challenging" dogs and worked with them to find a suitable home as well as poorly dogs, dogs needing major surgery and dogs that have been so shut down, it's taken months to repair these dogs, but the RRT have done it, have loved doing it and it shows. They are, without doubt, a very special charity indeed.

THIS RESCUE IS SECOND TO NONE. We first came into contact with the RRT before we had a rescue dog. We were invited to bring our rottie to their excellent free training classes and were given loads of helpful advice, support and guidance. I know the rescue is dedicated to keeping dogs happy, healthy and in homes, and freely help ANYONE seeking advice about any dog.
We later fostered and subsequently adopted one of the rescue rotties. A thorough assessment and home check were conducted. The rescue helped us introduce and socialise our existing and new rescue rottie. We received (and continue to receive) outstanding support from the Trust. Shelley is a qualified behaviourist who has worked for rotties for many years. She is ALWAYS available for advice, guidance and/or hands on support. (And I admit I have called both Shelley and Pete many times to seek their invaluable advice!).
While in our care, our rescue rottie received a cruciate ligament repair operation which was arranged by the Trust. Pete and Shelley took us to the vet to get our dog used to vet visits before the operation, and attended appointments to help us manage his care. I simply cannot imagine ANY other rescue devoting quite as much time and energy to their dogs.
Pete and Shelley offer LIFETIME support for ALL of their dogs and will always take their dogs back, if the need arises. In the past few months I have seen them take back a number of their old dogs who had to be given up for various reasons. My parents adopted one of these lovely rotties and were similarly impressed with the rescue.
I will continue to support the RRT based on their outstanding dedication, support and care for these wonderful dogs.Review by: Kim

We saw a photo of a male Rottweiler on the website and decided to go down and have a look at him. We contacted the lady who arranged a home check for the same day,. We already have 2 Rottweilers and are aware of the breed. When the lady from Rottweiler rescue trust telephoned us the following day to let us know we had passed the check she explained about the dog in her care and also about where he had come from and where they were situated. She gave us advice on the free feeding of our dogs and explained that the male Rottweiler may have issues with this. we then changed our way of feeding our 2 current dogs and we arranged to go down to the trust on the following Monday and arranged for all of the dogs to meet on that day to see how they got on together. On arrival at the kennels we were welcomed and shown around and chatted about the dogs. great advice was given to us throughout the visit and we spent time in the field with all of the 3 dogs getting to know each other. We were given tea and offered biscuits and further advice was given about the gentle leader which we then purchased 2 from the trust. We then left for our 2.5 hour journey home and was advised to think about it before we decided to go ahead. We was extremely grateful for all of the helpful feedback and knowledge from the lady who runs the trust. That evening after a long chat we decided to go ahead and rescue the dog we had gone to see and telephoned again to let the lady know and we arranged to return on the Wednesday to fetch the dog. On our return to the rescue centre we were greeted as friends and more helpful knowledge was given to us. Our questions were answered quickly and with knowledge of the breed. We were told the rescue is always at the end of the telephone should we have any questions or need help at any time.
We left with the dog and headed home safe in the knowledge that help was there should we ever need it. The rescue centre are also keeping in contact to check on the dog we had from them.
The dog has settled in well with our 2 girls.
We cannot fault the staff who dealt with our enquiries from start to finish and the knowledge that they gave us to help us in our quest to rescue our dog from them.
We would recommend anybody who wants to rescue a dog to the Rottweiler Rescue Trust as we found out ourselves how friendly, knowledgeable and helpful they all are.
A great team of like minded people who only have the best interests of each dog they rescue at heart.
