We were delighted with the thoroughness and efficiency of the rescue. They were so personable, professional but friendly and when we took our dogs to meet our prospective dog they were lovely and had great facilities. We have adopted many dogs (all Dalmatian) and it was clear that they took advice on the appropriate feed for the dog and everyone we met walking the other dogs were lovely and the dogs very happy. Recommend them 100%

We contacted Love underdogs as were were looking to get a new rescue dog. They responded quickly and we soon set up a zoom chat with Karine. She was very though with her questions and you could tell she had the dogs best interest at heart.
We then moved on to a visit to meet Chester. When we arrived we were met by Jane who knew all about Chester and gave us a great insight to him, his ways, history and health. We then had 20 min on our own with him in a massive pen they have. The location is wonderful also there is a cafe on the sight that did an amazing bacon sandwich.
We bonded straight away and brought him back with us that day.
Jane gave us her number then rang us the next day to check how the night went.
Cant say enough about the love and care the people at Love Underdogs give to their animals. Wonderful center.

I cannot recommend Love Under Dogs enough. The team were so helpful & knowledgeable, and as soon as we described what kind of dog we were looking for, they knew exactly which one to match us up with. We have had Molly now for a month, and she is perfect. From the initial phone conversation, to us collecting her, the whole experience was extremely professional, well thought out and organised. They had answers to all our questions, and after care has been outstanding. We've already recommended Love Under Dogs to family.
We could not have asked for a better experience.

Wow, what an amazing centre. We arrived on Mon 13th July 2020 to hand a much loved dog in for adoption. Due to a family bereavement Alfie or Alfie Doodle as he became known at the centre wasn't getting the exercise he needed. On the very same afternoon I received a a text saying that Alfie had settled in really well, had already been for a forest walk & had a 10min training session with one of the training assessors followed by a shampoo & cut. The following day I received 2 pictures of Alfie out on his walk in the forest. On 15th July I was informed that Alfie was having his Vet check & on the Saturday was due to meet his new prospective family. I was also sent 4 fantastic photos of Alfie out running in the fields. On Saturday 18th July I was sent pictures of Alfie with his potential new owners & off he went for a 2 week trial run. Throughout the 2 week trial I was kept up to date with Alfie's progress including a picture of him lying on top of the lady on the sofa fast asleep. On 1st August I got the text we were hoping for, Alfie was now fully adopted, on came the tears.
The decision to have Alfie adopted was not taken lightly especially on top of such an emotional time but the updates & especially photo's really helped reassure us that the right decision had been made in rehoming Alfie.
We cannot thank Love Underdogs enough for what they have done. I really don't think Alfie would have got such great care from the bigger dog shelters.
Thank you SO much, Bill & family

My brother and I have both adopted dogs from Love Underdogs (of different ages). I could not recommend Love Underdogs highly enough. The team are superb, friendly and knowledgeable. They go the extra mile to ensure the dog and potential owner are well suited from an experience and personality perspective. The process of adoption and the subsequent aftercare are excellent and my messages were always responded to quickly.

I would highly recommend this rescue, they really know the dogs they are rehoming and were able to give us a comprehensive overview of personality and potential behavioural issues. The rescue have been great at providing ongoing advice/contact. All contact was responded to promptly and all questions were given detailed answers. The only thing different to my expectations was a home check done via skype, however this is understandable with COVID

When you adopt a dog from a rescue, no matter how knowledgeable you are and how prepared you are, there will always be bumps in the road... Loveunderdogs have been amazing from the start! We contacted many rescues looking for the 'right dog' and Loveunderdogs by far have been the best. The team is always on hand to reply to any queries and offer advice, the team always responded rapidly to emails and their behaviour expert is amazing! We adopted the lovely Alfie, a dog who could probably be overlooked or given back due to some of his 'traits'. Every small bump we have had with Alfie, we contacted the Loveunderdogs team who always offered advice which WORKED! Alfie truly is an exceptional, loving dog, and he is not just this way because we gave him a home... he has developed due to the huge team effort and help from the Loveunderdogs team. I cannot recommend them enough! Thank you so much Loveunderdogs for bringing Alfie in our lives and working with us to support us!

We have had a great experience adopting our newest family member from Love Underdogs. The team are absolutely fantastic. There are a lot of rescues that hand out dogs without much thought, and Love Underdogs is not one of them.
Everything about their model is perfect. In addition to rescuing and rehoming dogs, the organisation runs spay and neuter programmes in Romania, and have a school education component. We visited several times with our family (including our dog) to ensure compatibility, and feel well supported. We are very happy!Review by: sonia

Love Underdogs is 100% in every way! The team are such lovely people and care so much for both dog and potential new owner. Their priority is to match them both so the adoption is a stress free and an enjoyable experience. The video interview answered all our queries and we were so impressed with the professionalism and kindness shown to us.We were met at the kennels by a young man ,so polite and infomative with a lovely smile. He emphasised that there was no pressure whatsoever in taking home Toby, the dog we had arranged to meet.We were left alone to get to know our dog and of course, fell in love with him instantly. That was over two weeks ago and what a lovely little fellow he is. Love Underdogs were very diligent, friendly and professional throughout the adoption process. The whole experience was very well managed and I am grateful for the service they provided. Communication was excellent and it was clear at every stage that the needs of the animal and the suitability of the environment was key. With extensive professional experience of rescue centres, I can honestly say this was the one which was most impressive in terms of communication and administration. They were open and honest about the dogs in their care and very helpful all along the process.

As a vet, I have dealt with many rescue associations. I can honestly say that the care given to the animals and the professional, friendly way in which we were dealt with as potential adopters was the best I have ever seen. We were given a lot of information about the dog that we chose and he was a perfect match for us. The support given since we brought him home has also been excellent. The process from their sister kennels in Romania to their process in the UK was amazing. They are all experts in dogs with challenging behaviours and go through a long process of rehabilitation with their dogs to make sure they are ready for adoption before putting them up. It's wonderful to see the progress
Really good with all of the paperwork and gave lots of good advice.

We couldn't recommend Love Underdogs enough. From the intial interview process to meeting Jamie, every care was taken to make sure he was the right fit for us and we for him. The team were all so friendly and welcoming. They obviously care deeply about the dogs and had a great knowledge of Jamie and his needs. As he is blind, we weren't sure at first if we could give Jamie the best home but we were reassured that he would easily adjust and how true that has turned out to be! We now couldn't imagine life without him and his ways. All of the information we were given was entirely accurate and there were no surprises. During our trial period with him, Jamie went on a medication trial for his eyes and they made sure we were ok to take this on, a team member even met us at the vets for his check up. The post-adoption support has also been amazing. We've been able to contact a behaviourist for advice on introducing Jamie to other dogs, and have the security of knowing that will always be there as an option.Thank you Love Underdogs!

Loveunderdogs were brilliant to deal with - from completing initial form, to home check to adoption. I like how they operate where you do the form and check and they then work with you on the dog match.
Very efficient in making appointments and spent lots of time talking through the process, how they work. John is great who works there - obviously a huge lover of both dogs and his job.
We enjoyed our visit and lots of time with the Ellie who was their suggestion for us to adopt. There was no pressure on us. We were very happy to collect her a week later.
John called us a few times to check all was OK - always when he said he would. Very supportive answering all our many questions.
Ellie is adorable and we are all very happy with our new addition to the family.

Finding my four legged wingman was a wonderful experience with Love Underdogs. They are responsive and supportive from initial contact right through to post adoption. The dog I first showed interest in had already a potential new home lined up. So Love Underdog worked with me to find me the perfect alternative. They were patient and allowed me to visit several times to ensure the partnership would be right for us both.
I couldn't be happier with my big-little man. He has the right temperament and personality for my lifestyle and at only 7 weeks in, we have an amazing bond and rhythm to our lives. Thank you Love Underdogs.Review by: Lesley K

Excellent rescue, clearly the focus is on placing the right dog with the right person, not just placing high numbers.
They had limited information about Mila but this was to be expected, I was assured by their health checks with both Romanian and UK vets and she was cleaned and well cared for.
When I took her home I had a large amount of info on the Charity and support with Mila, she was provided with a harness and food and medication to treat an initial infection.
I had a 2 week trial and was contacted on day 1, 7 and 14 to ensure we were happy and to answer any questions.

We had a very smooth experience adopting through Love Underdogs. The staff were helpful and friendly all throughout the process. You could tell they genuinely care for all their animals. From the start we were made aware of some of the behavioural issues our dog showed previously and his background was explained to us in detail. It was helpfully recommended that we should visit a few times in order for us and our dog to bond. The adoption process was professional and well organised. After rehoming, our new member of the family had some behavioural worries but the Love Underdogs team was still very supportive, checked-in with us on a regular basis and also organised for a professional behaviourist to pay us a home visit. We have adopted through other charities before and Love Underdogs provides a more personal adoption process than some of its counterparts. We would genuinely recommend Love Underdogs to anyone hoping to adopt and we would not change our new family member for the world. Thank you Love Underdogs!

Love Underdogs are a dog rescue like no other! They are attentive, supportive and interested in ensuring each dog goes to the right home/family. They remember and keep in touch with each and every dog that’s ever been in their care so they care about their dogs not just until they get a new owner – but for the dog’s entire life! There is even a clause in the adoption contract that states if you can no longer care for your underdog at any stage in it’s life for whatever reason, you must return it to this charity. They treat the dogs like their own and want to ensure they are safe, happy and loved forever – not just when the digs leaves their kennels. The information you receive when you adopt from them is second to none. Aside from obvious info such as the dog’s vaccination and medication history etc they give you an entire bespoke folder/pack containing every bit of information, tips and advice you could possibly need about owning and rehoming a dog – training tips, food and dietary advice, tips of what to do when travelling with dogs, finding a vet, medical advice. Romanian dogs often come with “issues” due to their poor start in life and the pack covers, in depth, tips for handling these confidence issues. The people who run the charity are lovely warm people who are always on hand to answer questions or give advice and they adore hearing updates and seeing pictures of their dogs in their happy new lives. This rescue, in my opinion, is in a league of its own.

We adopted a lovely dog called McQueen. He was very timid and shy but we are now having the pleasure of seeing his tail wag and it is an experience beyond belief. I cannot thank Love Underdogs enough for their wonderful care and help through the adoption process. It was very important that we met McQueen three times to gel with him before he came to us. He has recently just come back with us on holiday from Reims, France. From the streets of Romania to staying in Champagne was wonderful. The difference that they are making is phenomenal and I wish them God speed to re-home as many as they are able to. We now call him our baby.

We had a dog from Love Underdogs, (for about two years) who is a great dog however has some issues which means he not friendly with all dogs, we know we would have to find the right companion for him. Love Underdogs knows the dogs so well that the told us they had two dogs in at the time which would suit. Two months from the meeting date I can say we can not imagine ever separating them. A great recuse center that truly know and care for every animal in the care, a lot of the dogs are not simple rehomers however the underdog team are at hand to help.

Greeted warmly and it was good to see some of the dogs playing freely in the compound. Did not get the opportunity to see any other dogs but we did bond with the one recommended and she is now part of our family. The staff obviously care very much for the animals in their care and our adoption went very smoothly. We did have to ask about a recommended insurance company but the one they use (and provide a short free period of insurance during the home trial and beyond) seems very good with some excellent reviews on Trust Pilot. We also took advantage of the back up of a behaviourist who gave us some good advice and it is very reassuring to know there is a lifetime back up from Love Underdogs following adoption. What a fantastic charity. Only sorry we can only take one dog at present as they all seem so lovely and deserve a safe and kind forever home.

We contacted several dog rescues - Karine from Love Underdogs was the only person to reply and called us within 3 hours. Karine even had the perfect dog in mind - "Alsa" who's sitting beside as I write. After vetting us and our home for suitability we met Jon & Anna at the shelter for a 2 hour appointment, which became over 3 hours as we discussed absolutely every last detail including how to introduce Alsa to our 2 cats and signed the "Home Trial" papers. So basically within 5 hours of arriving at the shelter, we were back home with Alsa - a buggy, lead, blanket, food for a week oh and a month's worth of her pain relief medication (just in case). Superb service, amazing cause and from people who really make a difference in the world. We're so happy !

This rescue charity was recommended to me by a friend who also volunteers at Love Underdogs. The process was very efficient and friendly, with excellent communication/follow-up. As we already have a dog it was very important that the new dog is compatible, so we did a visit on neutral territory, a nice walk, and then made the decision to proceed with the 2-week home trial.
There were some adjustment issues which is perfectly normal, and having notified the administration, I was contacted immediately by the behaviourist, who gave sound advice. We are in week 3 now, and the progress is unstoppable ! We are so happy to have found a companion not just for our dog, but also for us too. She's street smart but so loving and is learning the ropes day-by-day, which is all we can ask. We are aiming for a happy, confident dog and with time we will see this. In the meantime thank you to everyone who works tirelessly to re-home these dogs.Review by: Heather DC

The entire process was carried out with professionalism and understanding. My wife has advanced Alzheimer's, my daughter has Down's Syndrome and both were taken delicately into consideration. The dog suggested for us has turned out to be just perfect and that is down to the understanding of all the staff at Love Underdogs. We have been going through a very hard time recently; welcoming Ada into our lives has made all the difference. I honestly can't imagine getting through the last few weeks without Ada. We adopted our lovely boy Norman from Love Underdogs just over 3 weeks ago and we are so delighted he is part of our little family.
Love Underdogs are an excellent rescue charity. Every part of the adoption process was so easy and straight-forward. Compared with some other rescues, I found Love Underdogs' website easy to use, nicely designed and full of useful information and photographs of the dogs.
We filled out a homing form online and we were quickly contacted by Love Underdogs who arranged a home visit. The following day, our home visit report was received by Love Underdogs whose adoption team assessed it and responded quickly to confirm the great news that we'd passed the home visit.
We were invited to the kennels the next day where we got to meet Norman. We came with my partner's parents and their dog, who Love Underdogs encouraged us to bring along as it was important that any family dogs who we see often met our potential new dog. Both dogs got on brilliantly, and we took them for a walk then a play/run-around in Love Underdogs' 'Freedom Field' which was super fun and it meant we had the opportunity to spend some time with Noman and for him to get comfortable with us.
The staff at Love Underdogs were so friendly, welcoming and informative. We had a chat in their office about the initial trial period and the adoption process. They gave us plenty of information about the rescue, as well as info about Norman and his medical history, etc. We signed the 2-week trial period papers and were then able to take Norman home with us. We were given an adoption pack full of useful information, several days' worth of Norman's dog food to get us started, his medical notes and his pet passport with important info in it.
Throughout the 2-week trial period we felt very supported by Love Underdogs. We had a couple of phone calls from the lovely member of staff who welcomed us at the kennels to check how we were all getting on and answer any questions or concerns we may have had as well as give advice. At the end of the 2-week trial period, we were asked whether we wished to proceed with the adoption, which of course we did, and were sent an electronic adoption form to complete.
Overall, our experience with Love Underdogs has been excellent. The service we received was helpful, efficient and very friendly. All communication was clear and informative and we can't thank Love Underdogs enough for everything they do for the dogs and for bringing Norman into our lives.

We were very impressed by Love The Underdog. We started our contact with them mid Dec which was a difficult time to get over there, arrange our home visit (as people had started going away for their break) and there were less staff at the centre. None the less, we had plenty of contact from the centre, keeping us in the loop about our home visit and really trying to push for the paperwork to be done. This was a much better experience than one we had had at a large rescue centre. Our trip to meet Marty at the beginning of Jan was really successful and we didn't feel pressurised to do anything. The staff were really friendly, gave us plenty of information on Marty and told us the pros and cons from what they had observed in him. Once we had him home we were contacted regularly to make sure we were all happy with the situation and given helpful advice. I am happy to keep in touch and send updates on Marty throughout his life.

Right from the start of my interest in adopting a dog everything was dealt with ensuring that it was the best outcome/home for the dog involved. At no point did it feel like just rehoming a dog , it had to be the right home and circumstances on both parties and I wasn't made to feel guilty if I felt a particular dog wouldn't be suitable in my home. On arrival at the kennels it again was clear that all the staff cared so much about the dogs in their care and finding them them their forever home. The aftercare and calls that you receive in the following 2 weeks also really help, thank you Jon!

What a great experience!
Registered an interest on line, had email confirmation and a home visit was arranged, a lovely lady arrived who asked questions in a supportive manner which was appreciated as we were feeling nervous.
Arranged a visit and was met by friendly staff who obviously knew the dogs idividually, also saw many volunteer dog walkers who also knew the dogs well.
We were told the dogs history, and advised of observations from volunteer weekend stays, we were also given good feedback from a previous homing that, unfortunately, didnt work out. We felt that we had all of the information, both good and not so good, required to make a considered decision.
Once home, we have contacted the behaviour guy a couple of times and received help when we needed it.
We now have a loving, cheeky, shy, mischevious dog in our lives who, with time and a little work, will grow into a confident, calm and wonderful addition to our family.Review by: Bobby128

You can volunteer to walk the dogs which exposes them to loads of different people.
They will make sure the dog you chose is right for you and you're right for them. They keep in touch with all the rehomed dogs, who all look so happy.

Love Underdogs was a perfect combination of a small-scale loving rescue, but the whole process was handled very professionally, with every important detail covered. Jon was clearly very passionate about animal rescue, but he didn't let that get in the way of keeping matters professional. Adopting a dog for life is a serious business. This is our second adoption from LU, we would heartily recommend them. Roy and Rupert both say thank you.

We recently adopted two very special dogs from the Love Underdogs charity. Their process from beginning to end was impeccable. I am referring to the full end to end process - promotion right through to the adoption. I do not say this lightly. We had been trying to adopt since March this year and I have to say sadly a number of the organizations we dealt with we were not impressed with for various reasons. When we found Winnie and Peach on the Love Underdogs website there was no question that we came to the right place and their approach gave us great confidence and motivation to work with Love Underdogs. Love Underdogs deserve a big thank you on behalf the people who want to adopt and the very special dogs in their care. I recently adopted a puppy from Love Underdogs.. We were kept informed of her arrival and vet check and went to visit her at the kennels and spent time with her two weeks prior to collecting her. We were invited to see all the dogs and meet the wonderful team looking after them.
The information pack was brilliant and covered all we needed to know so that everything was in place for our new arrival when we collected her two weeks later. The members of this team are very
professional and nothing was missed even to providing some of her food so that we could make a slow changeover of brand if we wanted. Everyone was very helpful and we signed a foster agreement so that we had time to make sure are pup was happy in her new home. We were contacted regularly through this period and we were delighted to officially adopt her. I will recommend this charity to everyone!Review by: Maggie Gallacher

I can’t thank the team at Love Underdogs enough for all their care and support. Anna and Jon are extremely passionate about the dogs and the work they do, which was overwhelming to see. We adopted Zina who was very anxious and had been at the shelter for some time. We did multiple visits and the team helped us to really understand Zina needs and how to meet these. During the trial and after adoption they were available to help answer any questions and give us support.

Love Underdogs are an excellent rescue centre doing amazing work. They are extremely thorough and dedicated to the dogs and their cause. We have not experienced a rescue centre that gives so much support to you before and after the adoption. They are an extremely friendly, helpful and approachable team who take great care in matching you with the most suitable dog for you. We have adopted a lovely little dog called Esmee who is settling in to her new home wonderfully well.

We had contacted several rescue places in the process of looking for a dog to adopt - Love Underdogs were by far the best in terms of quick responses, helpful and up-to-date information, and friendliness. Everyone we met at the kennels seemed lovely, and the dogs very well looked after. And now we have our Bertie who has fitted into our home perfectly!

John was the main contact but all staff seemed very nice
Whilst we were there dogs were being walked by volunteers & staff
All dogs seemed happy although some were a little challenging they were obviously loved and cared for
I was taken on a tour to meet all the dogs and none seemed stressed in their surroundings which says a lot for the centre
I just wish all people wanting dogs etc would consider adoption as there are soo many dogs like Wilf waiting for a lovely home

Overall the process was very smooth and speedy. We were quickly assessed and accepted for being possible re-homers. The initial meeting/adoption day was handled very well. We were given a detailed and informative history of Loveunderdogs and also all the relevant information that we needed about our particular dog. After care and home support was also offered.
We encountered some settling in problems with our own dog and were offered an extension to the trial period, but we had already decided to adopt the rescue dog, so declined this offer.
We are very pleased and happy with the outcome.

wonderful team of caring individuals
Everything was handled well and no fuss
Whilst we were there we were given a tour upon request
All dogs whatever attitudes they had were greeted by name and a brief explanation of their background was given (they gave me a bag of treats for my dog but I gave them out as I went around)
A steady stream of volunteers took dogs out for walks
so much good practice and care shown, well done Love Underdogs...what lovely people you all areReview by: Tracey Eels

I would highly recommend Love Underdogs as a place to start looking for your adoptive dog. From the initial contact, the Home visit and the introduction to our newly adopted dog was very easy and well planned by the people at Love Underdogs. At the home visit we where told of the history and medical details of the dog we where looking at, so we new what was going to be involved from the start.
We shown lots of pictures and video's to show the character of the dog to help prepare us for the first introduction. The introduction was well set out, to make sure that we and the dog where comfortable with each other before things moved on. We had several visits to introduce the dog to all members of the family before we brought the dog home. Love Underdogs supplied us with all the medical records, medication (minor ear problem) and his harness as he was comfortable with this. After the adoption, we have had contact with Love Underdogs on the progress of the dog and to make sure everything is well with him and us. I feel that Love Underdogs have gone beyond what they needed to do for this adoption and can really highly rate them.Review by: Andrew Mayall

From the quick response to my initial query, to the home check, the meet and greet with my family (including the furry kids), being flexible around an extended reservation period and upfront about costs in relation to the extra kennelling fees, to a comprehensive picture of the dog we were looking to adopt given on a call with one of the volunteers, to the welcome from the kennel staff and excellent way the adoption was handled (including adoption pack and after care) I simply cannot recommend the rescue highly enough. We love our new pup and she is finding her place in our home quite quickly. If we find ourselves looking to rehome again in the future we will not hesitate to look to Love Underdogs first

Right from the initial contact everyone at Love Underdogs is friendly and knowledgeable not only about the processes but for every dog in their care. The kennels and play spaces are immaculate and all the dogs cared for impecably, all very well loved. We had chosen a boy who had 'special requirements' so for us the process of adoption was a long and thorough one but essential. These guys know their dogs and do everything they can to make sure you are right for the dog, as much as the dog is a match for you and your lifestyle. Expectations of us were clear and set out from day 1, as was 'M's' needs. Jane was and continues to be a great support for us with on going advice and contact for us which has been invaluable. Her patience and undersanding throughout and knowledge of 'M' is beyond words. We cannot recommend these guys enough to anyone. To sum them up in 1 word. Outstanding. If looking to adopt, make these guys our first port of call, the whole experience from day 1 is way beyond expectation.

I found Loveunderdogs whilst I was looking for rescue dogs online.I could not find a suitable dog for our family at the rescue centres and came across this charity. I found the dog on here, that we ended up adopting. From the onset, I was provided with all the information I needed about the dog and on the visit, also given the opportunity to view the other dogs. The dogs are so well kept and loved, with lots of opportunities for walks and socialising with the other dogs. All the staff were so professional and knowledgeable and I can't praise them enough. The dog we adopted, less than a week ago, very quickly settled and is part of our family. We have been offered all the help and support post-adoption that we need and don't feel that we have been left without support. I know, if we had any worries or questions, we would be able to contact the staff quickly. The dog, who is so friendly and affectionate, is loved by all the family including grandparents and I can't imagine not having him in our lives. I would not hesitate in recommending other people to adopt dogs from here and give these dogs a new life, they so definitely deserve.

These people, absolutely and wholeheartedly love the dogs in their care. They give them,in my opinion, the very best love and care that they are able to give, bearing in mind the number of dogs they have to look after. They spend time gently and physically handling them, so that the dogs have already started to learn an element of trust from their new family by the time someone comes along - and they really do know the dogs individually because of their efforts and this bonding experience..
They so very much want the people who have been vetted and passed their careful checks, to adopt a dog and they do go out of their way to make the process as comfortable as possible, providing as much knowledge as possible to the prospective owners.
A brilliant and totally committed bunch of people. You won't go wrong if you choose them to adopt from!
Many thanks, Jon, Deb, Anna and the team.

Our experience with LoveUnderdogs has been great. LoveUnderdogs have always responded to our emails really quickly and have been happy to help whenever we've had questions. When we visited the shelter, the member of staff we met with was so patient with us as we met a few different dogs, and she told us in detail about each dog, and let us play with them and walk them. All of the dogs seemed to adore the shelter staff and it was clear they were well loved and looked after. Throughout the whole process we have felt supported, and now that we have Stella at home with us, LoveUnderdogs are still happy to help if we have any questions. We would 100% recommend this shelter!

I would and have, recommended Love-Underdogs to everyone I could. They were extremely professional but also friendly and kindly. They certainly knew their animals and how they fitted with the humans. I had been in touch with several organisations in an attempt to adopt a dog. It can be very dispiriting, I received more than enough rejections, although the reasons are logical and can be understood (afterwards).
Some organisations are quite flippant with the peoples' feelings... BUT Love-Underdogs were very different, their attitude was always positive.... they were quite sure that they would find a suitable dog for me... they were always looking forward, and always very kind. They kept in touch all the time so I was never left wondering what was happening. Likewise if I asked any questions they replied straight away with the answers. It should now be obvious that I heartily recommend this organisation.Review by: SandyEngland

From first seeing Robbie on the Love Underdogs webpage to full adoption the charity and staff were brilliant.
Very helpful and always quick in getting in touch at each stage of foster and adoption.
They had a sensible attitude to being able to rehome a dog to a realistic work/life balance.
I was met at their kennels by friendly polite staff who knew a lot about the dog I was wanting to adopt, the kennels were of a high standard and on speaking to the kennel staff you could tell it wasn't just a job to them and they cared about the dogs wellbeing a lot.
After a 2 week foster trial period I completed a full adoption and again, all through the process the staff were brilliant.
And they have an excellent after adoption support service for help and advice.
I cant recommend this charity and its staff enough, and if in the future I'm looking to adopt a dog again, this charities website would be the first place I lookReview by: Lou Lewis-Saunders

We can not fault Love Underdogs, from our initial contact regarding adoption. We had very prompt response by phone and email. The home check was arranged very quickly, and was carried out in an efficient manner. We were advised when a new batch of rescues were being transported from Romania, and emailed passport pictures to choose a selection that we felt would suit us. These dogs were assessed by the team and matched with our profile. One little 3 year old bitch was top match. And after a while when they were settled into the kennels and vet checked etc., we were advised we could visit We were met by a very efficient and pleasant member of staff, he was very caring towards the dogs and well informed. We met Wallis and were given time to be with her and decided she was the one for us.She was in good health, and happy. All the paperwork was completed and we were given everything we needed for the adoption, by the staff member, and he was very well informed.
After a wash and blow dry we took Wallis home. She is a beautiful little girl and has been with us less than a week, and although she has never lived in a house, slept soundly the first night, no distress, and no accidents in the house. This has continued. We have had dogs for 17 years, but rehoming a street dog is a new experience. We have been able to get very good advice from the team, by email regarding any questions we have had .They respond very quickly and we feel they are always there to give answers to any further queries that may arise. Well done Love Underdogs a first class organisation.Review by: Pam Coles

We adopted Denali in January of this year and the process from start to finish was wonderful. The team responded to emails quickly and were always very friendly and helpful. Our dog was housed at the Grove kennels and everyone we met there was kind and knew a lot about her. The home visit was professional, as was our first meeting with Denali- they happily answered all of the questions we had and you can tell that they want the dogs to go to the right home which is super important to us. Adoption day was smooth and informative. We had a chance to play with her again before going through the paperwork together. We then left with our gorgeous girl, lots of good information, a collar, and her fabulous Julius K-9 harness. We are so happy that we went with Love Underdogs for our newest family member!!

Our experience with Love Underdogs at Southend Farm was fantastic from start to finish. Everyone was so helpful at the kennels and talked us through the different dogs available for adoption and found out from us what we could offer the dog and what kind of dog may be suitable for us. They have always been available when we need advice and support even after we adopted.
The homechecker was very thorough and gave us advice as well on what we may expect when our new adoption comes home as she has rescue dogs herself.

I adopted Mandolin and although I think she is older than her passport says and the vet assessment, she is a golden oldie who has proved to be a lovely dog. She being an older dog has settled in excellently and keeps her distance from the cats and they her, and makes less demands than a younger dog. She just likes her food and a small walk and she is happy. The organisation is excellent and they do a marvellous job. She was 'house trained' already. After a failed adoption with a different rescue organisation, i was wary this time around. However love underdogs have been absolutely fantastic and it's very clear that the decisions they make are with the interests of the animal first and foremost. I rescued a dog which was very special to them as he had been in care for 3 years, largely because of ongoing medical problems. The information given to me about the dog was absolutely spot on, nothing had been withheld and their description of him meant there were no surprises when i adopted him. In addition i received an amazing file documenting everything you need to know to help your dog settle both short term and long term, including really useful information and links about training. Love underdogs staff have kept in touch with me to ensure all is going well, they have asked for feedback (always a good sign imo) and i know they will only be a phone call away if i need any support. As a first time dog owner i can't recommend them highly enough and will have no hesitation adopting from them in the future should i want another dog.

We rescued our dog just before the kennels moved from Nuneaton....We originally wanted a different dog...we had took our existing dog with us and it was thought best the one I originally wanted would not be a good choice...Luckily i had my eye on a couple of others on the website so asked to see those instead.
Because we had a long drive and we were prepared with crates etc, we were able to bring our choosen dog home with us...we have never looked back...she has been as easy as my other dog to train and is now off lead in park with her friends she has made....

We had a great experience with Love Underdogs! The kennel is in an idyllic setting, and the dogs seemed as happy as they could be given the circumstances. The dog we adopted was wonderful on the lead already and able to sit and to take treats gently — a testament to the care he was shown at Love Underdogs. We were given plenty of time to think about our adoption decision without feeling pressured, and since we don't have a car the dog was able to be delivered to us. Love UnderDogs clearly recognise that operating in an efficient and friendly manner will help instill confidence and trust in them and this is unquestionably the right approach to take. Allie this to a clear love for the animals in their care and you have a rescue organisation that in our opinion is second to none. We very impressed following the very first tentative email Enquiry we sent and we continue to be impressed two weeks after homing our wonderful new family addition. Everyone we came into contact with who was connected with Love UnderDogs impressed us but particular praise must go to Deb who is a fabulous ambassador for the organisation. We genuinely feel that we are now part of the Love UnderDogs family and that we could, and should, turn to them if we needed any help or guidance. The whole rehoming process was undertaken in a logically structured, unpressurised, thoroughly enjoyable manner and we simply cannot fault the experience. Without the slightest reservation Love UnderDogs are an organisation that we would whole heartedly recommend to anybody looking to adopt a dog - they do an amazing job.

I was very impressed with the overall procedure. The fact that they recommend a home visit before making an appointment to come and view a dog is in my opinion the correct way to help a dog be homed with a new family that are committed to the rehoming process. It saves on time wasters and the dogs being put into a stressful situation that some rehoming situations create.
The information pre visit and post adoption was great.

They provide a great service to adoptors and the rescued dogs from Romania. We were kept informed by Deb at all times. The staff also knew about the animals, their characters, likes, dislikes etc. The only negative I can say is that the some of the feedback from the staff member who showed us around did put us off some dogs i.e. he has been rehomed before but brought back because of biting people. I know people need to know this but I have homed a similar dog in the past with similar issues and with work, she turned out to be a wonderful pet for 15 years. Although we should know this I think staff should also put a positive side to each dog too. BUT this is only a small negative considering the wonderful job they do. I will always come back to this home in the future when I am looking to add a new family member to our home.

All the staff were very helpful, caring and considerate to us. Our rescue dog was in good health, clean and even had a claw clipped before leaving. I would recommend love underdogs to anyone interested in rescuing an unwanted dog.
The Facebook page is great and gives us and others the chance to share the dogs with other users who haven't heard of underdogs
We have had a great deal of joy with our dog and look forward to a lot more.

The staff we very helpful and patient with us when we were really struggling to decide which pup to take home. They gave us lots of time and space with the animals. Dogs all looked healthy and happy. We were able to take 3 dogs on a quick walk around a paddock to get to know them a bit better which was nice. The adoption pack was helpful. Before our visit, they were very good at responding to our enquiries.

Very friendly. They home dogs to the right owners but follow a very fair policy of rehoming (ie they get to know people and if a dog comes in that is a match they will contact the people on a wait list first where most centres just take the first person through the door on the lucky day). they have been helpful with advice re the puppy and training etc.

We have followed the charity for about eighteen months, since we lost our last dog and love their work. The website is fantastic, the updates on Facebook are brilliant. I look forward to hearing about all their animals and especially the successfully rehomed stories. The centre is in a lovely area, the dogs we saw all seem very happy and confident. Our interview to complete the adoption was very professionally done with lots of useful information provided and clear details of as much of the history to date of our dog as possible was given. We felt very re-assured by the post adoption follow ups too. A very friendly and helpful bunch of people who are doing some truly inspirational work. Thank you for bringing us Rupert the Bear who is a wonderful boy.

Fantastic rehoming centre. Friendly staff, great communication, and dogs seemed very happy. Loads of support throughout adoption process and afterwards. Lots of different ages / types of dogs to choose from, something to suit everyone. Dogs come fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered. Lots of information provided.

Responses to all of my messages and questions were extremely fast and helpful, both before and after we rehomed our dog.
The kennels were clean and all of the dogs were walked AND given playtime in a paddock every day.
When we adopted our dog we were given a huge amount of useful information on positive training, behaviour, health and general useful tips, plus a letter for our vet to give more information about the dog's vaccinations and any previous vet treatment.
At the kennels there is the best woodland across the road, plus a playing field next door and fenced paddocks so we had plenty of opportunity for our new dog to meet our existing dogs and the staff spent time with us during the introductions, nothing was rushed.
The £200 adoption fee seems very cheap considering our dog had been vaccinated, neutered, transported and microchipped and I was very happy that Love Underdogs aren't just rehoming dogs but are helping tackle the stray dog issue as a whole in Romania.Review by: Emma

Love Underdogs provides an excellent service for dog adoption, it is responsible, supportive and very responsive. We were given advice and good information every step of the way to adopting our dog. The home visit was set up without delay and proved to be a very informative interview where we gained loads of useful advice. The kennels themselves seem very well organised and clean with volunteers coming to walk the dogs. We were given an excellent starter pack of info on caring for a new dog which also contained our dog's health record and chip info. I would however have found it useful to have had more specific information on the dog we have brought home - but he is a relaxed soul and seems quite settled so perhaps there was little to report.
Thank you Love Underdogs, you are doing a great job!Review by: Cath R

We were impressed with the professional approach Love Underdogs takes with the adoption process and the obvious care and attention to detail taken with the dogs.
It was reassuring that we were invited to meet, walk, and socialise with the rescue dog as a family, and that a home check was required.
We were grateful for the extensive guidance provided in the Puppy Adoption Pack. It is a superb resource.Review by: Kelvin Hill

Cannot fault our experience with Love Underdogs; the dogs are very well cared for, they have playtime with agility and toys in their paddock and all their individual natures and needs known and catered for. Finding a good match for our dog at home was a priority, and we have been delighted with our new boy and the help we had in choosing him. Good advice was given regarding feeding, activity levels and personality (including a dislike of being groomed!); vaccinations, passport, contract all explained and a letter provided for his new vet. We are keeping in touch by email, and I know that any advice needed in the future will be given without hesitation. I hope to visit again soon and the only downside for me was only being able to adopt one! All credit to this rescue; they have just brought over a new intake of 31 from Romania so if anyone is in a position to adopt please think of them and take a look at Love Underdogs website...

I have adopted animals from rescues many times before and all put the care of animals as a priority naturally. However this is by far the most efficient rescue administratively that I have come across.
Highly efficient and surprisingly speedy responses.
Having visited and agreed she was the right dog for us the rescue needed to hold on to her for a further checkup at their vet. Following that a date was arranged, convenient to me, when I could collect her.
I felt that nothing was too much trouble for this rescue and, despite the speed with which they are able to process and re-home the dogs, they take great care ensuring the home is the right one.Review by: pargeterw

saw on their web site puppies were arriving from Romania. Soon as I filled in adoption application form on line, I was kept upto date, any any queries I had were answered via e mail quickly. The dogs and pups looked well looked after when we visited the rescue. The staff were friendly. The pup was upto date with all vaccinations, been neutered, and had a passport. I thought the fee of £200 was very good. They have kept in touch with me since adoption. I would highly recommend this rescue.

Well what can I say about Love Underdogs?
Everyone I have dealt with has been absolutely fantastic, if I could give more than 5/5 for support I would, and it would probably run into thousands!
The response to our initial enquiry was very quick, and professional, questions both ways were responded to quickly, and advice through the process was great, thanks Deb :)
On arrival at the kennels we were greeted immediately, and then got to meet Diesel and take him into the paddock for an introduction. We weren't hurried, and no hard sell.
The adoption pack is incredibly comprehensive and was fully explained, Zara is a very special lady and spent time with us explaining Diesel's background and how his veterinary checks and treatments had been carried out.
After adoption we had contact to check how things were going and Deb and Zara were always on hand to discuss any issues or answer any questions.
I can't thank either of them enough for their support and kindness, which continues now.
Thanks Love Underdogs, you're all amazing!

My partner and myself were really happy with how everything was handled from start to finish with Love Underdogs. From not being allowed to see the animals until we and our home had been assessed, to just how easy they made everything and how quickly it was all done.
It all just screamed of a rescue centre run by people who cared for their animals 1st and foremost. They offered us all the support we asked for and were only ever an email or phone call away. Still are in fact. I am so impressed I doubt I'll go elsewhere for another dog in future!

We cannot recommend Love Underdog's enough, my husband and I decided to get another dog after losing our beloved Bruno nearly 2 years ago, after recently moving home and adopting 2 children.
We decided to adopt through Love Underdogs, as the not only had a lovely variety of dogs, they also has young dogs, which we feel is important as we have young children. A lot of dogs in UK rescue centres tend to be staffers and lurchers, with history. Also the dogs at Love Underdogs are all seen by UK vets and behaviour specialists.
So we looked at the puppies suitable to bring up along side children, which is something you don't get advised on when buying online.
So we started by filling the application form in, Love Underdogs contacted us extremely quickly and were lovely from the get go.
We then received a call regarding the home visit, which again was done very quickly and professionally. Having a home visit and checking that their dogs are going to a nice home, just shows how caring this charity is.
We then we're told the date the dogs were coming in and discussed and confirmed an appointment date and time.
We arrived for our appointment, the kennels are lovely, we saw lots of the dogs being taken for walks, which lead us to the place.
We were warmly greeted and within 5 minutes we were introduced to the dog we really wanted to see, he was lovely and we had no worries about his care. The bond he had with the staff member who took us to walk him on the paddock, was nice to see.
We were given plenty of time to see our dog play and got to ask lots of questions and learn about the charity.
We then were told about our dogs history and discussed his health and what the vets checked. We received a well together adoption pack, full of really helpful information too.
Our experience was lovely and we came away that day with our new family member, who is not only beautiful, he is also playful and getting more confident each day with us.
As I'm writing this he's been with us 9 days, looking at him, you'd think he'd been with us longer.
We feel very blessed and after seeing the good that the staff and the charity do, we can't fault Love underdogs.
You can also follow Love Underdog's on Facebook and get to see lovely updates and let them know how your getting on, which is nice.
Thanks Love Underdogs for our wonderful new family member x

While on holiday in Romania volunteering at a dog shelter, I met a dog who decided he was mine. From that moment to the point he arrived in the UK, a total of a five weeks passed.
This is my sixth time adopting a dog. I have dealt with many rescue groups. Love Underdogs is one of the absolute best. They are super swift and professional in their communication. The shelter in Romania and the kennels in the UK are well organised and well run. The whole experience was efficient and pleasant.Review by: Shannon

Our children were desperate for a dog and my wife thought getting a rescue dog would be the best way of doing this. We contacted a few rescue sites but Love Underdogs was the most efficient and friendly. From the beginning they explained the process and always answered any questions in a quick and efficient manner. We visited the centre and met all the dogs but Chocolate was the one that caught our eye. Within a week of our home check we had picked up Chocolate and it was one of the best decisions we have made. He has settled in beautifully and it is hard to imagine life before he joined our family. Many thanks Love Underdogs...your dedication to offering animals a better life is inspiring.

Very happy with Love UnderDogs, my point of contact, Deb was very helpful and responsive over e-mail. She was patient and answered all my questions. She also gave me plenty of info prior to the day I showed up, so I was well prepared. Faye (my dog) also came with all her papers, passport etc. and a folder with tips and basic training info.
The shelter itself is lovely, out in the country with plenty of paddocks for the dogs. We were there about 45 minutes and I saw the dogs being taken out very regularly by walkers. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Very very happy with the shelter!Review by: Adechong

My husband and I adopted our [first ever] dog from Love Underdogs last month. A big step especially for my husband, who has never had a dog before. Communication prior to adoption was incredibly quick and informative - far better than I would have expected for any rescue shelter. (...and not even comparable to other shelters we'd been in touch with. Love Underdogs is in a different league.) The person who came for our home check was friendly and helpful, offering advice about how to improve our home for a dog, but not condescending or prohibitive at all.
We arrived at a scheduled time to see our first choice dog - the world's most timid/frightened puppy! Staff showed us a quiet place we could take her to get to know her better and left us to discuss our decision in peace. Only checking in 20 minutes later or so to see that we were alright and answer any questions if we had them. There was no pressure at all, but my husband and I were pretty taken - decision made. Staff walked us through every detail they had on file, and made sure we didn't need anything further. Because of all the helpful advanced communication, we already had everything at home necessary.
Pia, our new family member, escaped from her harness whilst on her walkies a couple weeks ago; a sickening feeling for new pet owners. We rang Love Underdogs for support - they were incredibly helpful and reassuring (we'd done everything right), and fortunately, clever/shy puppy, Pia, found her way back home within a few hours. A different type of lead has been purchased to ensure we don't lose her again!
Pia is struggling with men especially, but has made huge progress in coming out of her shell over the last few weeks. My husband and I are confident that LU will help us get her socialised and comfortable - we need only ask.
We owe this organisation many many thanks for all their help so far - and for the assistance we're bound to receive in the future.Review by: woznlex

They estimated her age to be 4-5 months old, however she is more like 1 year old[confirmed by my vet]. Also her vaccinations were not of a high enough dosage to suffice for the UK and has had to have more to be inline with current regulations, and to benefit from them. I think they need to update their vaccination data and their vets should be more knowledgeable

Rescue's response:
Love Underdogs take the welfare of our dogs and the service we offer to families very seriously. We are grateful for all reviews and welcome constructive criticism to help us improve. In this instance we have the following to say:In response to the comment on age:This particular dog was older, estimated born in December which would be stated on her passport. She would have been around 6 to 7 months old at the time of her adoption. These facts would have been made clear on all profiles and social media posts and clearly appear in her passport. We know that this age estimate is relatively accurate as she arrived from the street at the shelter in Romania at the age of around 3 months old, which is fairly easy to ascertain even without a definite history. With regards to the vaccination, the adoption papers contain a letter for the new vet with clear explanations on all medical care administered before by us and by our Romanian partners. We also urge vets who have any query or issues to contact us. We received no such call.Following the review, we contacted the vets and asked for a response in writing in order for us to put it to the medical team, but we never received any communications from them. What they did however say verbally is that there is a new vaccine covering the leptospirosis virus and that our vaccines were not the latest version, which we agree. Our vaccines are combined cocktails covering both leptospirosis and rabies from Nobivac. The dogs are suitably protected as confirmed by our own vets, but we will discuss the new vaccine with our Romanian partners at our next meeting. Moreover, it is important to point that these vaccines are not a requirement for a dog to enter the UK. We protect our dogs extensively, they are fully vaccinated despite it not being a legal obligation. The primary and referral clinic looking after our dogs in the UK is The Willows Practice in Solihull, which is one of the most reputable vet practices in the whole of Europe, and we feel satisfied that their expertise covers our veterinary needs.

We adopted 'Bamboo' a week ago, he is 5 months old and an absolute sweetheart. It is testament to how secure and well cared for he must have been with Love Underdogs for him to be so settled and happy. Of course we are experiencing the usual puppy 'joys' - toilet training, jumping up, chewing, but the adoption pack contains all the information and advice that I need in a quick read format, and I would have no hesitation to call the caring staff at the kennels if I felt in need of some advice- they were very approachable and welcoming, and want only the best for their dogs. I did not feel under any pressure to make a quick decision, and the well being of our older dog was very much taken into consideration. To be able to bring our new family member home without having to take him off for an unsettling visit to the vets for injections and micro chips etc was also much appreciated, it had all been sorted out for us already.
I am full of admiration for this organization, and would not hesitate to recommend them.Review by: Finboo

I wrote a very positive review shortly after adopting my dog Flint back in February; I would now like to add that the follow up support from Deb and Zara at Love Underdogs has been absolutely excellent. I have been contacted several times during the time I have had him, and all my emails have been answered very promptly.
As it happens, Flint has had an ongoing health issue; Deb and Zara have been extremely supportive and helpful, culminating in them offering to pay for him to go to the veterinary referral centre in Solihull where they take the dogs at the Rescue who have more complicated health problems. Not only that, Zara met me at the clinic and came in to see the vet with me, which was so useful as a second person thinks of different questions. I don't honestly think I could think of any way in which their follow up support could have been better. I would have highly recommended this Rescue Centre after my initial experience; now, nearly six months on, I can only recommend it more highly.

From start to finish our experience with LoveUnderdogs was great. Initially we filled the adoption form in online in early June, we received email correspondence the same day to arrange our home visit, which was carried out the following Monday. We received the go ahead a few days later and arranged our first visit to the kennels on the 5th July.
When we first arrived at the kennels we were greeted and discussed what we might be looking for. At all times the staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about all of the dogs and their characteristics. We were then given a tour of the kennels, where any dogs that fit our specifications were pointed out to us.
Then we chose to have a closer look at Nova (was Daisy). We were allowed to see her free playing in the paddock before taking her on a walk on our own, it was clear at this point that she would be the one for us.
Two weeks later on the 18th July, we made the journey to pick her up. Again, everything was well thought out and the pack that we received with all her information and pictures was great!
We've now owned Nova for just over a week and can definitely say her cheeky personality is starting to come through. This was the first time we have ever adopted but Love Underdogs will definitely be our go to place in the future and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a furry addition to their family.Review by: DizzyNova

Had heard very mixed reviews about various Romanian rescue charity's , so we feel blessed that we came across love underdogs .
From the first contact all emails were responded to promptly , home visit was thorough and the whole adoption process was professional and efficient . At know point did we feel under any pressure to take on a dog and all the staff we dealt with were very approachable , it is quite clear to see that everyone involved with underdogs is passionate about the cause and truly want the best for the dogs in their care .
On arrival at the kennels , we were shown the dogs and given plenty of time to spend with them , the hardest part of the process was only being able to choose 1 ! We ended up with the first one we saw , and am now proud owners of floss ( was whisper ) who after taking a couple of days to find her feet has fitted in to our motley crew perfectly .
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend love underdogs to anyone looking for a new addition and the support and information pack given is great for experienced dog owners and first time owners .
So we would say a huge thank you to the team , we are very much in love !!Review by: Floss

After nearly 3 months with our lovely rescue dog Luna, I feel this rescue operation really deserves another positive review.
We were lucky to be pointed in direction of Love Underdogs by an acquaintance and to this day thank our lucky stars (and said acquaintance) to have been made aware of them. When we decided to get a dog, we initally went through the standard UK rescue centres but were put off by the limited breed choices available and the quite apparent behavioural issues displayed by many of the dogs (not to mention the standoffishness of many of the staff). In a way, we always wanted a mixed breed akin to the friendly, intelligent and lively dogs that we so often encountered on our holidays abroad, and Love Underdogs seemed to have just those kind of dogs.
All initial contacts were dealt with very efficiently, with Love Underdogs getting back to us within a day to organise a home visit and advise us about potential kennel visits, which are required before an adoption can proceed.
We first visited just a couple of days after they'd welcomed a new transport from Romania and immediately fell in love with a super-friendly, enthusiastic but gentle 5 months old pup, that looked remarkably like a retriever, but has grown into a beautiful unique creature (whose ancestry will probably never be fully ascertainable though probably includes a good dose of collie and a few drops of some local sheep guardian dog or other), with striking looks and impeccable manners - this girl gets more compliments than the local prom queen!
Back to the rescue operation, where we received a friendly welcome despite the fact that they were very busy on that day. The staff looking after the dogs were extremely knowledgable and experienced and clearly knew all dogs very well and were able to provide detailed information about them and what little history they had available (which still was more than that provided by most UK rescue operations). The kennels were clean and well organised, though smaller than we'd thought. The dogs were well-fed and had clearly been very well looked after (including those that had just come from Romania). Quite a few of the new arrivals had been reserved already (which is worth knowing about if you are interested in any of these - they are advertised online and on Facebook before their arrival). We were allowed to take out our dog(s) of choice (we considered two initially) for a little walk, which was important to ensure that we could form a picture of the dog were were adopting. After making our decision, we left our details together with a deposit (as we knew we wouldn't be able to take the dog immediately), which was also dealt in a very friendly and professional manner.
When we came to collect, the centre staff went through the paperwork with us in detail, which includedthe passport, health history, letters to our vets and information about the microchipping database. Our Luna had been especially bathed for the occasion and was ready to leave with us when we got there.
Being new and inexperienced dog owners, the first few days were obviously quite interesting, but Love Underdogs staff went above and beyond the call of duty to offer their support and were very helpful with advice and handholding in response to the few 'Help!' emails we fired off to them.
If there was anything I think they could improve on, I would agree with what some other people have suggested that they could advise better about type of food and feeding schedules the dogs were used to (we had to ask), and it would be helpful if they stocked some essentials for purchase, such as collars, harnesses, leads (possibly even crates?) as it's difficult to be sure about the correct size needed until you come to collect.
Overall, though, I would say Love Underdogs is a well organised, truly caring rescue operation that I cannot recommend highly enough.
I've since spoken to many other rescue dog owners whose experiences were nowhere near as satisfying and consequently a lot more stressful for all parties concerned.Review by: Anette S

Staff more than helpful, seemed totally devoted to what they do, first impression shelters smelt very clean, will continue to spread the word.. More merchandise to buy online. Think there could be a bigger sign at the front of the shelter and towards their location, this could help with advertising

This rescue is excellent. At first I was a little disappointed that we could not just go and look at the dogs without an assessment but when I arrived I could completely understand this. The home assessment is an essential part of the process and this was a very positive experience as the assessor spent a lot of time advising us (which we requested). The process of adoption is really efficient and the help and support (and ease of contact) from such dedicated staff is really impressive. The decision process was incredibly difficult - I advise if you go through this that you take the whole family because I found having to decide which lovely dog take and leave so hard! I also advise you to leave yourself plenty of time - you can walk the dogs and take your time - but don't go too near closing time! This is my first dog so I felt I really needed this support that Love Underdogs offers and I thoroughly recommend them.

An excellent rescue centre. The staff really care about the dogs they are rehoming and have been very friendly and helpful during the process. All emails were answered quickly and the home visit was arranged quickly at our convenience. Since adopting a dog they have also contacted us to see how we are getting on and whether we need any further assistance. We would highly recommend this rescue centre.

A very positive experience. Initial inquiry received immediate response and within a day or so I was visited for a thorough home check. I was advised within 24 hours that I had been successful and we agreed a date I could visit. I was encouraged to take my dog for a short walk when I arrived.
I was given a wealth of information regarding health, vaccinations I was given her passport and details of when she needed to be de-flead and wormed again. I was advised regarding her micro-chip and that I could expect the paperwork within 7-10 days. I was advised regarding her behaviour during her time at the shelter and the food she had been given. I was presented with a new collar and lead for her.
Since arriving home LoveUnderdogs have made contact on several occasions to check that there are no problems and to ask if micro-chip details have arrived.
They are highly efficient and professional - and focused on the well being of the dog and a good match. It has been a great adoption. Couldn't be happier.Review by: Username

Love Underdogs is extremely well organised, communication from the start of our inquiry was welcoming and easy and still remains that way post-adoption. The animals are clearly well cared for and loved by all staff and volunteers and it was pleasant to visit the centre. The bumper pack of information received and explained with the adoption is very useful, as was the home visitor who was able to recommend local services (e.g. groomers). Every day since we contacted Love Underdogs I am pleased we did - our dog has settled in to be a beloved member of the family.

From looking at the website, contacting the rescue centre, home visit right through to collecting the pup, the whole procedure was well carried out. Emails were answered very quickly and in a very friendly manner. The home checker was very friendly and helpful. On arrival at the kennels we were greeted warmly. All questions were answered well. As a result, we have a much loved addition to our family. Many thanks to everyone involved.

A very well managed rescue centre, the staff were very friendly and knowlagesble. The adoption process was thorough but straightforward. Excellent communication through out the process and they have offered lots of support afterward ( though luckily we have not needed it). The animals seem very well cared for and the environment seems very good. I would strongly recommend this rescue centre, they are very genuine and obviously care greatly for the animals they are supporting.

We would recommend love underdog to anyone looking for a rescue puppy/dog . Unlike other organisations we contacted, we were made to feel like they wanted us to be able to give a dog a home, rather than seeming to act from the immediate assumption that we were unsuitable, due to our having a child, and not having owned a dog together before. The animals when we visited were obviously well looked after, with animals who were not 'getting on' appropriately segregated.
The only thing I would offer about their facilities is that there was not much space in which to meet prospective dogs individually, she was brought out to us in a hallway. Not a problem really, but perhaps a seated/separate area might help dogs and prospective owners relax into each other a bit more.
Digger was given to us up to date with vaccinations, neutered, and in possession of an EU pet passport, which was fully explained to us. She was also given a final vet inspection at no cost to us as she had only recently arrived into the country, the report from which we were given for our records.
Love Underdogs were flexible to our needs and timings and have followed up since we have adopted Digger, once again offering themselves should we need any help or advice. Fully recommend using them.
We now have a pet who is settled, healthy and very much part of our family. Can't recommend Love Underdodgs and the excellent work they do enough!Review by: Rob and Zoe

Very quick and friendly response to enquiries via email. We didn't actually see the kennels where the dogs were kept - we had asked to see a specific dog that we'd seen on the website and she was brought out to us. They kindly kept the dog for us for an extra week for a daily fee as we had a holiday booked. She looked very healthy and happy. Some lack of communication though as the dog was not walked before we took her home as we had requested (we had a long drive) but I appreciate that it was only 9.30 and they were busy. Also I thought that we would be given her food to avoid a sudden change in diet and risk of bad stomach but, although we were kindly given treats, we got no actual kibble. Luckily dog was fine.
Overall a good experience which was simple and smooth. Nice, friendly people.Review by: LauraC2015

I don't have any faults to find; from my initial approach through to follow-up queries, the response from the staff was prompt and helpful. The staff seemed to know the dog I liked without having to go and check, and so far their assessment has been correct. The follow-up contact has been excellent. The only times I have put less than 5 stars was when part of the question was not really relevant.
It would be helpful perhaps if there was a better selection of collars and maybe beds to buy so that you could get one suitable for your dog.Review by: Alison

I have supported this organisation for a couple of years and when I was ready to adopt they were my first choice. Whenever I have donated or engaged with the organisation they have always been very reactive and grateful. Their website is great and their use of social media makes them very accessible.
However when I went on my first visit I was a little disappointed. Although I had made an appointment no-one seemed to know who I had come to see. When one of the girls brought me Alaska, the dog I had come to see I was just given her to take for a walk, she was clearly scared, didn't know who the heck I was, and I didn't know whether that was her usual behaviour. It could have been very traumatic for Alaska and a less experienced person could easily have been put off. I wonder whether it would have been more appropriate for us to have met in a more controlled manner and with a bit more support? My second visit to collect Alaska was better and the hand over was a lot more reassuring for us both. I am happy to say that Alaska is very content and settled really well and I have received follow up contact. I cannot fault the distance contact from Love Underdogs it was just the face to face contact that could do with a little attention.Review by: Lisa Hughes

There could have been a more obvious reception area on arrival as there was a little confusion as to where we had to go and who we had to talk to. Could have been a little more forth-coming with information on dogs and it was a little unclear who we were meant to speak to about the adoption etc.

I was very impressed with every aspect of the adoption, not least of all, the passion of the people involved with rescuing and rehoming vulnerable animals. All of these animals are cared for very well and all the staff are extremely knowledgeable. It is so reassuring to know that there are still organisations out there that care for animals above everything else and I would have no hesitation in recommending this rescue to everyone. Love Underdogs have been a pleasure to deal with and they do an amazing job. The dogs all appear happy and well cared for and the staff friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The adoption process was carried out professionally and swiftly too, with reassurance that they're at hand if you have any problems or concerns. I think they should also be praised on their social media efforts - providing updates on adopted dogs, raising the profiles of those in need of adoptions and reporting on their success stories following the wonderful treatment they provide for those requiring medical attention. My 6 month old 'underdog' Ernie has settled in well, has a lovely temperament and appears to have been very well cared for - he was even bathed before collection! I would recommend the charity to anyone considering adoption.

Love Underdogs were very efficient in dealing with my initial enquiry and quickly arranged a full assessment of my home. The lady who came round was most helpful.
When we arranged for visits (we had 3 in all).. they were done very efficiently.
The ladies on site were also very helpful.
We didn't feel rushed at all with our decision.
The only thing I was a little alarmed at, was the number of dogs in some of the pens and how many pens in the one building, next to one another, so the barking when you went in was incredibly loud and probably quite alarming for the dogs (although to be fair, this was probably only when people came in to view them).
Also, I think for puppies when being walked, body straps would be better, as the leads they use were choker type around the neck and as most puppies pull, it seemed to be quite uncomfortable for them.
Perhaps a little more information regarding feeding would be helpful (especially with puppies), when you come to collect, although after taking our puppy home, they were very easy to contact and ask for advice, and most helpful. (We had initial problems with our pup having runny poos with spots of blood in)Review by: Debbie Morse

I would encourage and recommend LU if anyone is considering taking on dog. They do an amazing job at helping to provide a future for these poor animals that probably would end up dead or living an horrendous life back in Romania. To be able to make a difference to just one dogs life and teach them that life can be fun and full of love, in my opinion creates a strong bond from the beginning. For us, it will always be a rescue dog that we will take on, the love they give back once they are confident is the best feeling in the world. Well done LU for helping these animals. To anyone reading this review, get on Love underdogs website and read about them and I bet in know where you will be looking for your next doggy!

Prior to our visit, the home check was completed which made the visit easier if we wanted to adopt any dogs when we visited. The home checker was able to share their report with several charities.
The site was easy to find and well staffed. The kennels themselves are quite full and noisy when you walk round so it is difficult to get a good look at the dogs. However, we were given the opportunity to take any dogs we liked for a walk and get a closer look.
We adopted a dog and the paperwork was thorough and any questions we had were well answered.Review by: Sarah Gilbertson

I am 66 years old and have had dogs, cats and anything that walked through the door as pets. I have never seen a dog that chews EVERYTHING in sight! She has every type and flavour of chew which are gone in a flash. She has a basket of toys. I have had to buy many bottle of super glue to fix everything. I have never put a dog in a cage but I have had to buy one to keep my new puppy safe as she goes for cables. I think some up front advice on the purchase of a cage might be a good idea to keep everyone and everything safe.

The centre is a 2 hour journey from my home so I was greatful that I only needed to make one trip. The home check was carried out before I visited the dogs. I was asked which dogs id like to see and not pressured into looking at any specific animal. I viewed 2 and both were introduced to my dog in a paddock which allowed them to get used to each other. I wasnt rushed into making a decision in any way. I brought home a young female and she has been an absolute joy. I wouldnt hesitate to reccomend love underdogs and will rescue from them in future.

The staff were very helpful and patient with us, as we originally went to view a different dog, post adoption they have shown interest in how our new addition is getting on, and are there if we have any questions. My only concern was that I was not aware of how young the dog was when she was neutered, as she would of been 3 months, which is different to the age here in the U.K, I thought she would have been neutered here at 6 months, that would have been good to know in the information during the adoption process. But generally very helpful and easy service to use. we are very happy with our little girl she is a pleasure and has settled in well.

Our dog Mabel is 10 years old and believed never before to have had a home of her own. She was rescued from Romania and I imagine her experiences there were far from pleasant. We were fully informed of the problems she came with, her lack of awareness that toileting should be an outdoor activity, for example (in fairness, frequent and regular walks have managed this to a great extent). One young lady had special responsibility for the care of Mabel and our success in getting to know Mabel is thanks to the sound foundations she built, she did a very good job. The accommodation in kennels is necessarily far removed for the home environment but Glebe Farm is vastly superior to many others I have seen and entirely adequate. I am very satisfied with entire adoption process and the help and guidance we received both from Love Underdogs and Glebe Farm Kennels. It is good to know that on-going future advice, help and guidance is offered and freely available, should we need it. Sincere thanks to all concerned and very well done.

I travelled from Hampshire to reach the centre and the postcode I entered in my satnav didn't take me far enough along the road.
I was very impressed my own dog and I got to meet and walk so many new dogs, and with the speed at which I was able to progress my search for the most suitable dog. I walked at least six in an hour; at another centre I went to, I only managed to walk one in that time and my dog was not allowed into the kennel area. Love Underdogs is considerably better organised than other centres.
All staff were helpful and approachable, and continue to be so with excellent after-sales care and expert knowledge clearly communicated. Staff are very reassuring, helpful and patient: they really know what they are talking about and I am instilled with confidence in the whole centre.
Since adopting Celeste, I have had a few problems with her - ie toilet-training her - but thanks to Love Underdog's sound advice, those problems seem to have been overcome. Celeste now eats rice with her food - and has changed to a different type of food (wet because of the lower protein content), which is helping her tummy and preventing urine on my carpets. I have also taken the initiative of covering my carpets with lino (which has dissuaded Celeste from fouling there) and keeping Celeste and my first dog in my bedroom with me overnight (consistently enabling a proper sleep for all of us). Celeste is learning really quickly and copies my first dog. They now snuggle up together - even when walking! Very endearing.Review by: Sara

The experience of adopting our dog was very good and positive. If there are any negatives it would be for the kennels to suggest what food and the quantity that should be given. I feel the information given to me was a bit vague. We made the mistake of using a brand of dog food that was full of E number and four weeks later are still trying to resolve the problem of a poorly tummy and the inability to 'pick up' cleanly if necessary during a walk. Love Underdogs are a caring organisation and are still showing interest in our adoption without being pushy. Our dog has settled very well into our home and is a happy mischievous little sweetie. The whole journey was excellent. It took us a few days to complete admin, home visit and our dog being able to come home with us. Our process was quick as our dog had no issues and it benefitted him to be in a family home.
The visit to Nuneaton was welcoming and open. The home visit was completed by a person who knew about dogs and their needs. She asked relevant questions to ensure our dog would come to a safe home and would have been strong enough to say No, if needed.

I would and have already recommended Love Underdogs to others. They are extremely friendly and helpful and clearly care a lot for the dogs and cats. We visited once after we had been house checked and we were able to adopt a 5 month old collie cross puppy and take her home that same day. We could meet with any dogs and they gave us space and time to get to know the dogs. There was a paddock we could walk the dog in.. No pressure but they were there to answer any questions. They offered good advice on food, insurance and general settling in time. They were available to call anytime if we had any problems. She had a little cough, probably from the traveling (ari-con) and they sent antibiotics at no extra cost just in case it was anything else. It cleared up after a week. They are interested in follow up news and have continued to be so friendly and supportive. We wouldn't hesitate to adopt from them again. A brilliant rescue! :-)

The only less positive points I would say are that my cat came to me with quite a bad infestation of ear mites which I needed to have treated within his first week of being with me, at my own cost. Also, although he had had the most essential vaccinations, he had not had the leukaemia vaccination and I was not clearly informed of this (i.e. that if he was to be able to go outside he would need this jab). Therefore I also needed to pay for this very soon after I had adopted him.
Overall, a good process though.Review by: Jennie Duprey

We had been following Love Underdogs on facebook and also their website for some time. The work they do is marvelous - helping so many animals. We attended the open / fun day and met lots of people who had already adopted and others like us that were looking. We were introduced and given full history of Tess the dog and given plenty of time to spend with her & took her for a little walk. The center is situated in the country side so the dogs have lovely walks. The kennels and cat homes were clean & spacious. We also met Bijou the cat. We fell in love with both of them that day! We were able to complete all the paperwork and a home visit took place the following week. We picked them up the next weekend and haven't looked back. Tess and Bijou complete our family and we love having them at home with us. It's nice to know they were so well cared for and loved at Love underdogs before we got them, and staff have been available for support when we needed it in the early days when we brought them home, which we were grateful for. We also love to see regular updates on facebook of all the adopted animals - its like a growing family! The team at Loveunderdogs work tirelessly to help these animals - they all deserve medals !!

I adopted my cat Kaia from the Charity Love UnderDogs (Romanian Underdogs) in October 2013. They deal mainly with dogs but a few cats and Kaia was one of them. I was totally impressed with their service and kindness. My first contact to them was answered very quickly and all my dealings with them were polite and efficient. My Home Check was carried out by a lovely lady who obviously cared strongly about the animals in their care. All cats from this Charity are neutered, vaccinated and chipped prior to adoption, - because I have other cats I also wanted Kaia to have the tests for Feline Aids, and Leukaemia before I took her, and the charity did this within 24 hours with no problems. All paperwork including Pet Passport, proof of flea/worming etc was provided on adoption and the chip was put into my name within a week. Because I had no transport on the day of adoption, one of the volunteers kindly drove Kaia to my house and I was told her diet, favourite foods etc. All in all a wonderful experience. Kaia has settled in so well and is a total joy. I would thoroughly recommend this Charity to anyone wishing to adopt a pet, the work they do is fantastic..

Love Underdogs are really great. The people are friendly and obviously love the animals
They are a very dedicated team taking on one of the most challenging things in rescue, rescue from abroad from a country which has a very poor attitude to animal welfare, I can say this in good faith I have a Romanian friend.
They face criticism for rescuing from abroad but this does not phase them - their focus is on
rescuing cats and dogs that face certain death - mostly dogs
they offer a very professional and well organised rehoming
they provide plenty of good photos - lots of information on the animals and access to visit the animals in the rehoming centre
they offer plenty of back up after adoption

Love Underdogs appear to care deeply about their 'charges' and give them love and encouragement to enable them to settle and grow into expecting a normal life. A life that has no threats, but provides security and their basic needs and more. This is proven by the fact that they no not advertise their charges until they have made a thorough assessment of their characters. I recommend LU totally.

Dax ( was Mouse) is my third dog from love underdogs. He has a very severely damaged foreleg as he was found injured in a wheelie bin when back in Romania. LU made me fully aware of his medical needs and the fact that he was extremely nervous of people and other dogs. He has been with me for a month now and is a much happier little chap. A very welcome addition to the pack :-)

I fell in love with Our dog when I saw his first picture and read on Facebook that he was ready to come over from Romania. I just new he would be the dog for me and love underdogs were so helpful in getting our home visit done quickly so that we could meet him as soon as he had been vet checked. When we arrived at the kennels he came out to us and we took him for a short walk, I could not wait to take him home. I was told what little history they knew about him, and gave me his passport and advice on insurance etc. I sent a report a week later of how thrilled we were with him and how he had settled and have been contacted several times since. I would, and have recommended this rescue centre to others , their work is amazing! .

We adopted two dogs from this rescue are were supported in doing this. I found the rescue helpful and caring. We walked the two dogs we were interested in accompanied by their main carer who was able to answer any questions we had. We were also given time to allow our current dog to interact in different ways to ensure they got on. We were given written notes on behavioural and feeding to take away with us. The rescue has been in constant contact with us since then and would recommend them to anyone.

I thought the animals were really well looked after and cared for, more so than other rescue centres I have been when we have had family pets in the past.
Although everything has been fine and I haven't needed to get in touch, I wouldn't hesitate if I needed to, as it is very clear that you care about the welfare of the animals, even after they have left.Review by: Cathy

We found Love Underdogs on Facebook. Which was well presented and clearly linked to the website. The website was really easy to navigate and good looking. We got in contact after filling in the application form online. We had a home visit 4 days later and was then contacted to arrange going to see the dogs in the kennels. We almost missed the turning for the kennels as it wasn't clearly sign posted. We were greeted by Zara and we sat and had a chat before going to see the dogs. The kennels were pretty clean and the dogs were in the good condition. We got 2 puppies out to meet and see their temperaments, but neither were right for us. The lady recommend another puppy and he was perfect for us. We took him home that day. Love Underdog checked in with us 3 days later and 1 week after that.
We would recommend them to everyoneReview by: ZoeKillick

The dogs appeared to be happy and well looked after. The staff were very caring and treated each dog as an individual. Considering the dogs background I think Love Underdogs is doing an excellent job. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a dog to visit their kennels. I spent nearly 3 hours there trying to decide which dog to take home (I could have taken so many!). During that time the staff were helpful answering all my questions and never made me feel rushed.

The clear and careful assessment of the dog by the rescue centre staff, enabled us to make a choice according to our needs. The adoption was smooth and speedy, and the dog has settled happily into our home. I feel confident that I could phone the centre if I have any further questions or worries, and know that they would be there to help. We were very happy with the whole process, and would have no hesitation in using the rescue centre again, and recommending it to others looking to adopt a dog,

We only visited the kennels to pick up diamond, as he was in foster care and we met there, the staff were very welcoming, and what we could see was the love and care they had for the rescue dogs. We met zara and katie diamonds foster mummy and filled out forms and any questions we had were answered clearly, we enjoyed are experience and know that you are only a phone call away if I need to speek to anyone. We are looking forwards to the reunion in may.

April 2012 saw the adoption of our first Romanian Underdog. From our first view of him on the website the process of adoption and support provided by Love Underdogs was first class. We made two weekend visits to get to know him and for him to check us out. The home check was thorough and undertaken in a relaxed but professional manner. Although somewhat nervous initially, with care and understanding he blossomed into a fantastic family member and we really believed that we were the lucky ones. Towards the end of 2012 we were advised that the shelter in Brasov had found his sister. She arrived just before Christmas into the kennels and there was instant recognition of her brother. Love Underdogs provided wonderful assurance and support and now she also became a happy and relaxed member of our family. This year we visited the shelter in Brasov to express our sincere thanks to AMP for the wonderful work that they undertake rescuing and re-homing the dogs. The dedication and care that they provide 365 days of the year was clearly evident in the happy dispositions of all the dogs in the shelter. The veterinary care given to every dog is first class and ensures that all the dogs are in the best possible health for their journey to the UK. The process of passport preparation including micro chipping, supported by the required vaccinations is undertaken in an extremely diligent and professional manner. The regular visits by the Love Underdog team to the shelter have developed an incredible working relationship with AMP, enabling the supportive funding to be appropriately utilised, for the maximum benefit of the dogs.We have now adopted our third dog, whom we fell in love with during our visit to the shelter. Moreover the Romanian saying that the dog chooses their new owner really is the truth.Love Underdogs is a most professional and caring rescue group that provides support prior, during and after adoption, of the highest standard. Together with their partner AMP, the welfare of every dog is paramount, in ensuring the best possible future, for every one of them. Adoption: December 2013

We needed a dog that was good with cats and other dogs and Love Underdogs were great. We went to the kennels for a no pressure visit. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They knew their animals so well and it was immediately obvious that they cared for all of them. We were introduced to all the dogs that were thought to be suitable for our family and were able to spend time with several different dogs so we could get to know them better. There was no pressure and we were able to take our time with each dog. After visiting the kennels on a Sunday we were home checked and had our dog by the following Thursday. We have since been back to an open day for a reunion and were just as impressed with our second visit. Could not recommend Love Underdogs highly enough. Adoption: June 2013

Was looking for a very specific dog, calm enough to live with four non dog savvy cats. Love Underdogs gave me very honest assessments of their suitable candidates and when the original dog was rehomed before I was able to sort out my home check (my fault as it took some time to get fencing contractors to fit fencing to my property) they encouraged me to visit again to meet another dog they felt would fit the bill. They have subsequently given me lots of support and advice post adoption and I feel that I can pick up the phone to ask for advice/support if ever I need it. I now have a super dog who is happily adapting to life in a home and is exactly the sort of doggy companion I was eager to find. Would highly recommend them to anyone looking to rehome a rescue animal as they always struck me as highly professional, competent, knowledgeable and caring. Adoption: December 2013

Adopting Ballou was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. I felt the site enabled me to get to know and trust the organisation well before I approached it to offer an adoptive home. The site was consistently clear, well organised, informative and regularly updated. This gave me confidence in the rescue centre. When I made contact the response was quick, friendly and positive. So many rescue centres project a negative response - suspicion before optimism - that it puts potential adoptees on a back foot before they even meet an animal. The rescue centre was pleasant, clean and we were met by people with good communication skills. We were allowed to take Ballou for a walk on our own and see him in the paddock off lead. It was made clear to us that there was no pressure on us to make any decisions. The staff knew the dog and described his behaviour perfectly to us. In short we got what it said on the packet. To top it all - he is absolutely perfect. Adoption: November 2013

I highly recommend Love Underdogs. After meeting a pup from Romania at one of their fund raising dog shows and falling in love, I had a home check in two days and we went to collect him that day as they were very happy with us and our home. Everyone was lovely to talk to and dedicated to the animals, even how they worded their emails was just right. Some of these dogs have been through alot and need time and patience to rehabilitate them. Thankfully they have Love Underdogs to give them a chance of a better life and make sure the right owners are found. I hope to become a volunteer for them in the future. Adoption: September 2013

I had visited the shelter in Brasov, Romania so I had a good idea of what to expect between AMP and Love Underdogs. Both charities do an excellent job in helping and rehoming these dogs in Romania and the UK as well as promoting and carrying out neutering and educating Romanians on companion pet care. I think what has impressed me the most is the lovely affectionate characters of these dogs against all odds. Obviously some dogs have been through more harrowing experiences than others and it is all credit to Love Underdogs for helping them to adjust to their new lives. I did actually pick out a dog in Brasov to adopt on his arrival in the UK. But the staff at Love Underdogs rightly suggested that he was not comfortable around large dogs and probably wouldn't be happy living with my Great Danes! They found him a fab home and I came away with a 6 month old laid back puppy. I had already had a homecheck by an experienced homechecker and was delighted to be able to have one of these lovely dogs. I say lovely because my puppy didn't disappoint me. Though he had been living in a shelter and kennels he was clean and well behaved. He got on brilliantly with the Great Danes and I haven't got anything negative to say about the puppy or Love Underdogs. The charity have all the dogs' interests at heart. They are vaccinated, microchipped, vet checked etc and are on the end of a phone for any help and advice. They encourage updates and photos of the dogs in their new homes and have a genuine interest in them. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I cannot fault them. You feel like you are in a caring and inspiring group whose only aim is to help the dogs in Romania to have a better life free from harm in the company of caring people and families. Just like to finish by saying I love my Romanian Underdog whose name we kept as Yodi. He's a pleasure and everyday he makes me smile and I hope life with us makes him smile too! A boarding kennels turned rescue centre because they couldn't stand to see dogs suffering any more. The love these guys have for their rescues is very apparent from the moment you see the web site. It's even more apparent when you meet the team and the dogs they are re-homing.The workers are not only passionate about rescuing animals, but they are great ambassadors for animal welfare at home and abroad, dealing with sensitive and emotive subject with compassion and tact.Re-homing is done on an individual level taking into account personal circumstances, experience and personal preferences, there is a diverse range of dogs (and some cats) at the rescue centre who are all fully assessed and where necessary rehabilitated before being offered for adoption. They really can find a dog for everyone willing to put in the hard work needed to care for one. The after care service is friendly, keen and helpful and office staff are brilliant at their jobs too!I not only have a wonderful rescue, but the love and support of a Facebook community who have rescued dogs, work at the charity or just support the charity. I will continue to rescue from Love Underdogs before considering other charities. Adoption: March 2013

I have 2 Belgian Shepherds but felt I had room for one more large male dog. Knowing I can only walk 2 dogs but have a large garden I decided to offer a home to an elderly and/or disabled dog. I spoke to Love Underdogs over the course of several months to find the perfect dog for our family. On one transport trip from Romania Sasha (age 9) was brought over and homed with us in October 2012. He spent his whole life at the shelter in Romania having had half his front leg amputated as a small pup. He is now enjoying a comfortable, warm and loving retirement with us. This dog was perfect for our situation and I felt he was matched perfectly to our situation, e.g. not requiring walks and being able to get along with 2 other large males. Love Underdogs assessed my needs and what I was able to offer and every day that passes I am so glad we now have Sasha here living with us. This firm pays great attention to detail for the benefit of potential owners and happy re-homed dogs. So many dogs are still awaiting homes, some from terrible situations and I wish I could take more. Adoption: July 2012

Oh my word! It is hard to describe the level of love Romanian Underdogs had for my cat Poppy.I saw her on a Facebook appeal and immediately registered my interest/ Others were interested, but after a few weeks, no-one came forward. I let the team know how much I wanted her. The communication never ceased (I requested to know about Poppy's progress). IT turned out a blessing for me that she was not adopted. I do not drive, live in the depths of Cornwall, but knew that this kitty was supposed to be with me....Romanian Underdogs knew this, and were so concerned with Poppy feeling love, they made sure that she got here....and she did, thanks to them. Poppy is such a care free, happy cat who is loving her knew home, we are loving her so much, and Romanian Underdogs are quite obviously a charity who just want to help these animals and for them to be loved. They went to great lengths for Poppy and they are amazing. Me Poppy, snd Teabag (her adoptive sister), are so grateful! You guys at Romanian Underdogs at incredible! I found the whole experience very friendly and professional and they clearly spend a lot of time and effort on the dogs that need rehoming. From the beginning I was able to see all the dogs on their website along with their history /stories and it was re assuring to see that all the animals were thoroughly vet checked and the appropriate action taken to improve their welfare along with any long term medication organised. In addition it is nice that they also employ dog trainers and specialists to help with rehabilitation including holistric treatment ( all kennels had music and lavender bags and they also practiced reiki and crystal treatments) and it is clear that they take every effort to match dogs to home/circumstances as thoroughly as possible. They are also available to talk to once you get your dog home to help with any issues.I thoroughly recommend Love Underdogs and support their work wholeheartedly. Adoption: April 2013

Love Under Dogs is a fantastic organisation and one to be applauded and recommended. We went to have a look only, and ended up being chosen by our lovely pooch who was residing in the cleanest of kennels, and he looked happy to be there. Three days later we had our home assessment and our lad came to stay with the family he had chosen to live with. If we go on holiday in the future and need a babysitter for our pooch, we will happily board him at Love Under Dogs, where he will have the freedom to roam the paddock and have other dogs, cats, horses and a donkey for company in this clean accommodation. I would happily board here myself !! Adoption: July 2013

They spent a long time letting me get to know the dog in the paddock. I felt that they were very professional. After taking the dog home and to the vet I was a bit disturbed that the vet was very sceptical about them being a proper charity as he had had bad experiences with Romanian rescue dogs. He initially said that the dog had not had the correct vaccinations, but then he went online and checked and found that he had had the correct ones but that these were different from vaccinations available in the UK, so agreed that all was correct. It would have been helpful if the rescue centre had forewarned me of this. I felt that highlighted the vet's own prejudices! My dog is settling in very well and going to puppy training classes and will be very well behaved, he has got over a lot of fears - such as traffic noise very well already. I believe the charity are genuine and doing good work. Adoption: September 2013

What impressed me first of all was the relaxed atmosphere. All the dogs are well cared for, clean kennels, plenty of exercise and social interaction with other animals and humans. The dogs receive regular walks, there is a lot of secure land for them to use so the dogs can have a good run around but also there are some great woodlands around the rescue making walks an interesting experience for the dogs. The diet is a healthy and well balanced and catered for the individual dog's needs. The staff's knowledge is excellent and at no time was there any pressure to re-home the dog for the sake of it. They encourage people to spend as many days as they feel fit to get to know the dog and a weekend foster service. Fostering the dogs out for week ends also help the dog fit into a home environment. The dogs are subjected to a vigorous vet checks and all dogs come chipped, a pet passport, wormed and treated against flea's etc. Overall I struggled to find fault, the welfare of the animals are paramount and this shows in the excellent service they offer. What you see is what you get, there is no hidden agenda this is an organisation that puts the animal first every time. Adoption: November 2013

I would recommend Love Underdogs without hesitation to anyone looking to rehome a dog. Their adoption process is thorough, professional and efficient and their knowledge of the dogs they have for rehoming is excellent. I was given a full report on my dog's health and a behavioural assessment and provided with all her microchip and vaccination information. From the information I was given, it was clear that Polly had been given a thorough vet check prior to adoption, which is very reassuring. The homechecking process is detailed and ensures that the rescue is rehoming a dog which will fit with your lifestyle and family. I introduced my dog to Polly at the kennels prior to adopting and was given ample time and space to check that they were going to get on. The rescue maintains contact with families who have adopted from them and I know that they are available to help with any issues, or answer any questions. They offer full rescue back up and are keen to remain informed about your dog's progress. They also hold regular events where people who have adopted from them bring their dogs to meet up - it's like joining an extended family! Adoption: August 2013

We lost our old boy the week leading up to xmas 2012, I was already very interested in the plight of the romanian dogs and was always checking out the romanian underdogs fb page .I spotted a wee jrt x dog going on transport to the uk, and watched with interest as he arrived, it was then I asked where he was being cared for and when I was told Nuneaton I almost fell off my chair, as that is my local area.I quickly expressed a interest ad was told to come and visit, we were greeted warmly ad wallace(now wally) was brought from the kennels and we were able to allow him to meet our other dog, Jack and take them both for a walk in the nearby woodland.I remember bending down to stroke him and he just laid his little head in my lap and closed his eyes, it was love!!!The kennels arranged to come for a home visit, and we were visited with Wally, i think the very next day.Paperwork was signed ad we had him with us on trial, adoption fees to be returned if he didn't settle in.Wally slept or so it seemed, constantly for the first three weeks, seemed worried when we let him out for toilet, that we were going to throw him out on the street again, so we had to carry him outside and stand with him !!Wally has settled in so well, he was very fearful of adults when he first arrived and understandably so, often baring his teeth and growling if people he didn't know came to close or took him by surprise. Months of love and gentle care has helped him through his earlier trauma and he is now a cocky little chap, whose favourite place is on the sofa next to me and my daughters.I am now keen to offer a foster place to help another Romanian underdog socialise and understand that people can be kind xx. After the passing of our (private rescue) westie, Jack, we were heartbroken..... after a while we began looking online at rescue dogs that needed loving homes. Love UnderDogs website soon became our 'required reading' and, before long, we came across a picture of Gizmo. He was a scruffy looking old boy of 12. One ear up and one ear down, the cutest looking dog that just melted our hearts. We made enquiries online and had soon arranged for a home check visit and an appointment at Glebe farm in Nuneaton ( quite a trek for us as we live in a suburb of London.) We arrived at the appointed time and Gizmo was brought out to meet us...For us, it was love at first sight! He was a bit bigger than we had expected and looked a little out of proportion with a long body, big head but short legs. He was a bit wobbly and limpy and had lumps and bumps all over but he was made for us! The staff allowed us to walk him and then gave us a full and fair appraisal of his condition and vet check. The premises seemed well presented and the staff were obviously happy to be there. The dogs at Glebe farm all seemed well cared for and were well socialised. There was an 'open day' in progress when we were there and lots of people were in attendance including vets and animal behaviourist. We decided then and there, that we would like to take gizmo for a home trial and after filling in the required paperwork and making a reasonable donation (considering the work that had been put in, bringing him from Romania, microchipping, vet check, food and comfort etc, the amount requested couldn't have come close to reimbursing the charity for their outlay on the dog's behalf)We put gizmo in the car, with my wife in the back with him, and set off for home....We got to within 5 miles from home when gizmo became car sick! All over my wife and my cream leather, jaguar upholstery! (How we laughed!) At home, he was introduced to our other westie, 5 year old Lilly. She also fell in love with him as has everyone who has met him. After a week or so we received his paperwork and pet passport which showed his original name as SAPU...as soon as I said the name, Gizmo responded ( as if to say...Finally! Someone knows my name...) So from that moment on, he has been called Sapu) The most laid back, gentle dog anyone could wish for and a joy to share our lives with.I imagine he must have been popular and well loved at Glebe farm as I'm sure I spotted the odd tear in the eyes of some of the helpers when we left with him.I sincerely thank love underdogs for all they are doing and will always recommend them to anyone considering taking on a pet. Some may say it takes a special person to re-home an older dog but it is so rewarding and emotionally uplifting to know that, for that dog, you have changed his world and given him the love that he is so eager to return. I have nothing but praise for Love Underdogs. The animals in the centre are treated with warmth, compassion and respect. The staff really do love the animals. A full assessment is carried out before any adoption takes place, and they are knowledgeable about each animal, so that a suitable and potentially successful match is made. Adoption: January 2013

I was so impressed from my initial contact with Love Underdogs and the support I received once I had adopted my dog, Cody that I have made it a priority to give something back to these wonderful people every time an opportunity arises.I have been so overwhelmed by the commitment all of the workers associated with this special organisation and thank them everyday for bringing the magic back into my life that is my dog.Cody needed some serious medical follow up on his arrival to England (my choice), which I was supported with throughout. It was a difficult time, but I was never allowed to feel alone or loose my sense of humour!I have made some truly special friends through this experience and welcomed into the Love UnderDogs family. I am so pleased to have been able to adopt Couscous - he is a real little character. He has settled in so well with the other dogs and my neighbours cats are not a problem when he meets them. I felt that Love Underdogs were completely honest with their assessment of Couscous and from applying for him to home check took a week and the following week he was with me! I would and have recommended Love Underdogs as well as the lady who carried out the home check from Soi Dogs.Kind regardsSally Strutton. Adoption: October 2013

Love Underdogs is a fantastic charity who are clearly dedicated to helping the Romanian animals. Alen is a joy to have, and we were very well prepared by his foster carers about his deformed leg and personality so that there were no nasty surprises and we knew what we were getting in to! Honesty and clarity is so important when adopting a dog and really helped us in our decision making. The only improvement I would suggest is that the fees are better publicised on the website. I got confused with the wrong information but was fine once it was explained to me. Adoption: August 2013

I have always had rescue dogs and when my beloved Cavalier Spaniel passed away in January I took his food and treats to my local kennels for the rescue dogs, fighting my self control I took up the offer to "have a look through the kennels" and the result has changed my life. Love Underdogs rescue Romanian dogs as well as supporting and education and neutering programmes in Romania in order to address the chronic stray dog issue which that country has.My dog Wilfy-Radu (Radu being a Romanian name meaning happiness) came full vaccinated, neutered and vet checked, of course he also has a pet passport. Wilfy's behavioural issues were explained to me and I was able to seek guidance from LU's behaviourist to help him settle in to life in a secure home. Eight weeks later I couldn't resist and saw that a 10 month old puppy ACE! was on his way to the UK. Wilfy and ACE! are an amazing pair of characters and mean the World to me.One of the best aspects of Love Underdogs is the community which you become a part of. LU have open days, dog show's and fundraisers throughout the year and many adopters come back with their dogs for regular reunions. Great dogs, superb backup and an all round brilliant experience. The kennels offered me my choice of dogs as fosters first, to see if we were compatible. They were very supportive and very patient in answering my many questions, making the process completely painless. The dogs (two Romanian geriatrics) were healthy and happy, and quickly adjusted to home life, despite never having been in a home of their own in their long lives. They had been street dogs all their lives, and had then been taken into a private shelter in Brasov in 2012 before being brought to England for rehoming. I feel that the sympathetic and knowledgeable care they received at the rescue centre contributed greatly to their smooth transition to home life.. Our adoption was made final on 05/10/13, and as I type, my precious boys are asleep on the rug at my feet, two of the happiest furries you could wish to meet. Adoption: October 2013
