This is a fantastic charity and rescue centre. Communication from beginning to end is superb and the knowledge of staff is excellent.
The charity is providing a much needed service to dogs in Romania that are treated terrible and just left. The charity finds the dogs fantastic loving and caring homes giving the dogs the love they deserve. If I had acres of land and the finance I would adopt more dogs. The dogs from Romania are beautiful loving dogs. I am
On my second adoption now. Would not go to another rescue centre.
The rescue centre is about providing love and care to the dogs above profit and making money and it shows through the hard work they all do.

Wonderful service with people who have a great knowledge and clearly a strong passion for what they do. Their caring attitude and professionalism meant we could bring home our dog Indy and be fully aware of her needs going forward. Should we wish a friend for Indy we know exactly where to go! ❤️

Very experienced Rescue and thorough checks on our house and garden were carried out.

One of the most caring and professional rescues I have ever known. Amazing support and back up and a true love for the dogs rather than just looking for quick wins on rehoming. The dedicated team share everything they know about the dogs, good and bad and are always available to contact for guidance and help. They have also created an online community of adopters who provide great support and advice for those who need a helping hand.

Very organised from the first email inquiring to adopt my Margo. Kept well informed of Margo's progress on journey here. I would recommend anyone to adopt a dog from this shelter. Margo is fantastic, changed my life completely. They do wonderful work rescuing these dogs.
Considering what Margo probably went through she is so loving and trusting.Review by: Username

I have two dogs and three cats from this rescue. I do homechecks for dog rescues myself and I found this rescue to be excellent in terms of their approach. My dogs are beautiful well adjusted and very social. I really would recommend this rescue to others. They work so hard to socialise the dogs and have an excellent team and also for transportation of the dogs second to none.

We could not wait to rescue a dog from Romania. The lady that runs the dog rescue in Romania tries so hard to care and look after the animals. Her constant concern for their lives is a tribute to her dedication and sheer hard work We have our lovely Clara thanks to her and Roz Dilly. They work tirelessly to ensure that all the dogs are rehomed to people who actually care and that are suitable to the individual. I would not hesitate to recommend this dog charity, the whole process of adoption ran smoothly for us due to the care they all take in arranging everything to perfection. Thank you all and a special thanks to Roz Dilly who made it possible for us to give a beautiful dog her forever home.

I found Dolly on the dogblog site. Straight away I had confirmation that she was still available for adoption after that it was all such plain sailing.
Roz Dilly arranged a home visit after that it was a matter of getting all her paper work in ordeR. We waited approx 3 weeks. Then she was travelling over. In this time Roz kept all of the adopters up to date with their progress even photos of their journey.
The pick up was straight forward and we had our lovely girl. There is a good back up system in place if needed.

I have rescued two dogs from Bid to Save A Stray and cannot recommend them highly enough.
Without a doubt in my mind, this charity has absolute love for the animals and carefully places each dog in the right home.
The team are exceptionally quick to answer queries, process the adoption AND provide plenty of post-adoption guidance and support.
If I could take on more dogs, I wouldn't hesitate to go right back to Bid to Save a Stray. Our two rescue dogs have made our lives complete.Review by: GOConnell

I always get rescue dogs (& cats) & knew someone who was getting their dog from Bid to Save a Stray. As my friend said, they were a well put together Rescue, who do an amazing job amidst the dire cruelty & environs of Romania.
They have a fantastic set up & have organised spay/neuter schemes for local dogs as well as trying to change opinions & educate the young re animal welfare.
The process of adopting my dog could not have been simpler & RBU is offered in the U.K. for any issues if required, including behaviourists.
They also have a wonderful point of contact in UK whom I dealt with re a few queries.
Overall they were v professional & I have no hesitation in recommending them. And their dogs are all wonderful.

Have had a great experience with Bid to Save a Stray from the onset, and have ended up with the perfect little addition to our family. The staff were helpful and continue to be invested wholeheartedly in the welfare of the animals, even after adoption. Can't commend them enough for the work they do in Romania, and indeed in bringing these animals to their homes across Europe.

First time i have ever rescued/adopted a dog and would never have thought about abroad i have always had my dogs as puppies but once i came across Bid to a Stray website i was spoilt for choice with dogs in fact two i chose had already been reserved and then i came across my Little boy. I was overwhelmed by the passion and dedication of the staff , i did my ' homework' about the rescue and all the problems they endure with the every day running of the shelter i couldnt believe how caring and living the staff were towards the hundreds of dogs and cats there, i was saddened by the plight of the animals and wanted to make a difference. I was supported by the rescue from my first enquiry right through to when i received my Doggie It was a painless and smooth transaction i would recommend to all, i would not hesitate to do again.look no further if you want to adopt or foster from them you wont take long to fond what you are looking for and having looked at other sites i always came back to Bfas people who work tirelesly for no profit, all they think is putting their animals first, saving lived when most would have been killed. Contact Them for all your help and support!

This rescue centre does such a wonderful job both in Romania and here in the uk. We are very happy with the dog we have rescued from them. But people must remember when rescuing any animal that they must not give up at the first hurdle and must be committed to working with their new fury friend to help them overcome issues from their past. This charity is run competently and with sincerity. It does all it says it does, so please have confidence in the advice given. The Public Shelter at Targovista has traumatised your dog and you will need patience to help them. The expertise form Bid to Save a Stray will help you rescue and rehabilitate your dog. Be wise and follow their guidance, and not just the compassion of your own heart. Without this rescue group the dogs would suffer until death, so its worthwhile trying to help.

This is a charity run by people that put the animals first. I was given lots of information and advice. The dog I have adopted is just perfect for us and hopefully we are perfect for him. I know if I have any problems or need advice moving forward I can call or email Roz for help.. Bobby is calm and very socialised with other dogs. We feel completely at ease with him. Best decision we have made for a long time.

Bid to save a stray is a Romanian rescue centre that has a UK network of volunteers that guide you more than competently through the process of taking their dogs. I have met several dogs from this charity rescue, and they were all well looked after and very well adjusted pets just waiting for a good home. I have two brothers from this organisation - they are part of my family after only 1 1/2 months and I wouldn't be without them. I can heartily recommend Bid to save a stray - they really care, and their dogs are more than grateful for a good home - they will repay you with loyalty and love.

This is the real deal. Their only intrest is the wellcare of the animals and not to make profit. We recently adopted a dutch shepperd and we have been adviced in such a good, friendly and professional way. I can recommend this rescue centrum to everyone!!! And even after the adoption, they have a forum for the adopters where you can get help for any issue that you have.

We are experienced rescuers having now just rescued dog no.5. This time we have rescued a 5mth old puppy from Romania via Bid To Save A Stray. There are many pitfalls in rescuing dogs from overseas but I have to say that with BTSAS you really have no concerns at all. The dogs are all kept in a well run shelter in Romania with the adoption process being run from the UK and is thorough and informative and the communication incredibly responsive. You pay only for the cost of vaccinations and transport from Romania, which by the way is in a purpose built pet transporter (again, a company based in the UK). They are take to DEFRA accredited kennel from where the collection is made. Post adoption contact remains in place along with a community of fellow adopters in case you need any kind of support in the days after collection. I would definitely use this charity again and highly recommend them.

My husband and I have recently adopted two brothers from BTSAS and from our first enquiry we have had excellent communication, support and advice. We were sent regular updates and photos/videos of our dogs and are able to contact them for advice post adoption.
We have rescued 9 dogs over the years and this is the best organisation that we have dealt with, their dogs are obviously well cared for and loved while in Wonderland, and after they had recovered from their journey our boys are proving to be loving, playful and eager to learn. The team of volunteers at BTSAT are doing an amazing job both in Romania and the UK and we are in awe of their dedication to the dogs in their care.
I have and will continue to recommend this rescue to anyone considering adopting a dog.Review by: LeeGoodrum

I got in touch with bid to save a stray as I was looking for a young dog that would suit my families needs. I was especially after one which would be loveable, cuddly, caring, sweet natured and good with children.. It didn't matter on looks or size, I just wanted the perfect dog for my family and mainly for my 9 year old daughter who suffers anxiety issues - I wanted her to have a confidant, something she could love and would love her back and make her feel safe.
I perused the Wonderland site for a few months looking for the perfect dog and when I came across one who looked as though she might be a good match I got in touch. I asked if they thought this puppy would be suitable and the organisation agreed. I had a home check, which was easy and painless - not at all obtrusive. The lady who came was lovely. We were cleared for adoption, I paid the donation and then it was just a matter of waiting for the puppy to have all her jabs and travel documents completed before travelling over to the UK.
there was a problem with the travel arrangments, and our puppy among others were delayed leaving Romania for a week. This was due to the rescues diligence in ensuring that the dogs only travelled with suitable transportation, and with a company who would care for the dogs in the best way throughout there long journey.
When the day finally came to collect our puppy, we drove to a kennel to pick her up (although we could of had her delivered straight to our home, I just didn't realise this at the time and in hindsight would've choosen this option) The kennels were of an excellent standard and the dogs were being cared for very well.
Myrtle, as we named our pup, was very excited to see us. We took her home in the car - she was sick - at home she didn't bark for a few days but soon found her voice. She had a bit of an upset tummy, but she had been travelling for days so I guess that was to be expected. But after that she was fine. She has been easy to train, she only ever wee'd in the house twice, she has the most beautiful nature and she suits our family perfectly.
We all adore Myrtle and we wouldn't be without her. The rescue was wonderful and still keep checks on all their dogs. In fact, in October, the mother of the rescue is coming to England and we have all been asked to attend a reunion with our Wonderland Dogs. That will be a wonderful day!
I would recommend this rescue to everyone looking to get a dog. When I get another dog I will be using them again. And I have several friends who have used them and all of them couldn't be happier.Review by: willowstark

We have recently rehomed two Romanian rescue dogs with this charity and are very happy.
The organisation was very responsive, organised, thorough and helpful. Not being able to meet the dogs prior to adoption was not a problem, since the coordinators matched the dogs very carefully to our circumstances.

'Bid to Save a Stray' works to save strays and street dogs in Romania. I met both of my dogs while I was there, upon my arrival back home, the aforementioned rescue centre coordinated the transfer along with the team in Romania. I was kept fully informed by the rescue centre here and in Romania as to their arrival and collection dates. Both arrived well and the whole process was very easy and well organised. This is a very good rescue centre where the welfare of the dogs is their top priority from the moment they are rescued right the way through until they are safe in their new homes.

We have two dogs through this Rescue, and I would definitely recommend them. They were helpful, approachable and consistent in their advice, and have various means of contacting/supporting them via their website and social media etc. Both dogs were microchipped in Romania, and Mole had been spayed, and both had fully up to date vaccinations and travel documents. As is often the case with rescues from abroad, we weren't able to meet our first dog beforehand, but we were in the perfect position to deal with the unknown as we don't have children and are both experienced with dogs. When Mole arrived from Romania in December 2014 he wasn't in best health - he was a very, very nervous dog (due to his streets background) and was being treated for a whole mange. However, he became one of the family immediately and nursing him back to health and watching him become a confident affectionate boy has been wonderful. He will always have some issues but they're part of his character and we wouldn't have him any other way. Our second rescue was in March 2015 - Mouse was a failed adoption and in urgent need of rehoming. We travelled to her foster home in N Yorks with Mole to meet her, and brought her home the next day. Although their first encounter wasn't great - because of her background Mouse is aggressive with other dogs - they settled together almost immediately and are now inseparable partners in crime. Mouse had come into the UK as a nursing mother but was spayed shortly before we met her. We have had nothing but positive experiences with this Rescue and I wouldn't hesitate in taking on another dog from them should our situation allow it.

My beautiful girl came from a kill shelter in Targoviste, Romania. She was one of the lucky ones who was rescued by this wonderful charity. From the moment the adoption process started the charity went out of their way to support me through the process, the home check etc. I was even sent regular photos of my girl in the weeks before she travelled! She's turned out to be an amazing dog, she's never had an accident in the house and is so affectionate. Having being taken off of the streets obviously her background is unknown and there are small I issues with her training that I'm working on, but the charity are always there to offer advice if needed and they encourage adopters to share updates on how their adopted dogs are progressing in their new homes. I wouldn't hesitate to adopt another dog from this charity in the future.

I have had experience of rescued dogs and many rescue organisations in the past but Bid to Save a Stray has to be one of the best. The little lady I rehomed just over a week ago is the healthiest, most well behaved and easy to manage rescue I have ever known. She is an absolute little treasure and that is mostly due to how she has been cared for by the owner in Romania and the hard work of all others involved in the operation, including those based here in the UK. Arrangements were well made, regular updates given and the transport seems to have been very professional and relatively non-stressful for the dogs. I have also been very impressed by the follow-up messages I have received - this gives me great confidence in the fact that this organisations involvement doesn't just end with receipt of the dog. Wonderful work done by wonderful people.

I was looking to adopt two dogs and saw an ad for one of my dogs on Pets 4 Homes website I then dealt with BTSAS in relation to picking my dogs. BTSAS helped me all the way through the process including helping arrange transport of the dogs to Liverpool port where I picked them up. I felt totally supported all the way through the process and BTSAS helped me with all of my concerns swiftly and now there is an adopters forum wher adopters can share experiences. All in all it has been a fantastic experience and my boys are so lovely we are always complimented whilst out on walkies about how well behaved and cute they are ... definitely would recommend for the potential adopter. The process of adopting was very simple and easy.
