The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate people who cleared love the dogs in their care. They spent plenty of time with us, getting to know us, finding out what we required from and what we could offer a dog. They then introduced us to Shep & once we were all happy we took him out round the grounds on our own so we could get to know him & him us. When we brought him back they talked us though his issues & on-going training needs so we knew exactly what we were letting ourselves in for. They are also happy to advise adoptors on the phone if any problems occur. We were able to purchase everything we didn't have for him and were provided with a free bag of the food he was used to. I can rate this rescue centre highly enough they strive hard to ensure their dogs go to the correct lifelong homes. Well done & thank you Border Collie Trust.

A wonderful, clean environment for the dogs and a great place to take the dogs for a walk to get to know them. The people were very understanding and tried hard to find the right dog for us, which we did. They went through his history, personality and needs. We were very aware of what we were adopting and the needs of him due to his past. The check up phone call was great and was amazing to tell them how much he has changed since adopting him. Would recommend this rescue centre for anyone looking for a border collie.

Professionally run centre with staff who are knowledgeable about the breed. Permitted as much time as we needed to spend with our dog of choice and staff were very objective in their advice - there was no "hard sell" or pressure to take a dog. The level of support and advice we have received since taking her home has been amazing - it is fantastic to just be able to pick up the phone and be reassured that we are doing the right thing or to be told to try something new. Time is the biggest healer for some of these dogs and since getting our girl home at Easter, we have gone through every emotion from thinking we made the wrong decision to sheer joy now that she is becoming more confident.
If only all potential BC owners had this type of advice and support before they brought a dog into their lives there would be far fewer dogs needing new homes.

The Staff at Border Collie Trust GB are all clearly only there because they have a strong interest in dogs, particularly the Border Collie. Their overall demeanour and greeting as you walk in immediately puts you at ease, with the feeling that you are in the right place if you are seriously looking to adopt a Border Collie. A friendly, single-minded no-nonsense approach to your needs is apparent from the start, supported by a very strong 'product knowledge' of the breed.
The catalogue of photos and character profiles of the dogs in their care is kept up-to-date, and questions about the dogs are answered without embellishment or favour. The chance to 'lead-test' a dog is encouraged and a good secure area is available, along with an 'off the lead' play area and plenty of toys!
We (my Wife and I), are very happy with our choice of dog, and we know he is happy with us, but if ever we had a behavioural problem with him, we would contact Border Collie Trust GB first. Experience is a great ally!

We found the rescue centre to be extremely professional and very well maintained. As you would expect and hope , the welfare of the animals seemed to be there top priority. At arriving at the centre you are greeted by the feeling of a sanctuary for unfortunate animals. The staff were extremely pleasant and gave comprehensive information on the dogs in there care thereby ensuring we were fully prepared for our subsequent adoption.

The process was straight forward & easy to understand. Staff were welcoming, seemed to genuinely want to rehome the animals and were realistic about working hours, etc basing suitability on individual dogs/ family's rather than applying the same blanket rules for all. They had a good knowledge of the dogs and their needs and had clearly bonded with our very shy collie girl despite that fact she hadn't been with them for long after arriving from a dog pound in Ireland. We really enjoyed our time there getting to know our dog and have been very happy with her since coming home and 3 months on. Lovely genuine people helping these animals and making a difference.

I felt that Border Collie Trust's attitude to the question of re-homing was professional and commendable. The information and opinion given about each animal available for adoption was factual and objective. Our three year old Billy is a handsome border collie and came to us from the Republic of Ireland via the Border Collie Trust in Colton, Staffordshire. He loves people! He simply cannot wait to see us each day and thumps his tail on the floor of my downstairs bedroom at 6 am to wake me up.The door to the garden is always open in this warm summer but it's me he wants. Lick, lick, lick! Why do I bother to wash in morning? In the garden there is an old rectangular cupboard, waterproof and cosy after being lined with a warm blanket. But, if it's raining and my bedroom door is shut will he go in? No chance. He prefers to get wet. But why? Then I remembered. He crossed the Irish Sea by boat - in a crate! How his former owners could do that to such a splendid animal I cannot say. What I like best about Billy is his 'humanity'. He doesn't give a dead rat if we are rich or poor, old or young, dumb or smart. He has given us his heart. And we have given him ours.

We were matched up to the perfect dog for us, it was straightforward. They made sure that the dog was comfortable with all of the family and our existing dog and allowed us plenty of time to get to know her. We were given details of her full history and health (she had a poorly eye which she had seen a vet for) we accepted the responsibility for caring for her damaged eye. We did not have to make an appointment and the opening hours were such that my husband could meet the dog after he finished work. We were contacted to ensure she had settled, The staff all seemed to be very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient and they certainly cared for the animals.

Excellent place. You really felt like the staff care for the dogs. You can tell the staff don't just want to re home the dogs but they want the dogs to go to the right home. They were very patient with us when we were deciding on a dog. When the dog we wanted to see turned out to have too many problems for us to be able to cope with they brought out a dog they had just received that might be better suited and they were spot on. They know their dogs and what kind of home they need.

I have used Border Collie Trust before and they are an amazing organisation. I've scored them low on home visits but only because this category is not applicable. BCT have an unrivalled love of Border Collies, which make them so special to deal with. When we adopted Freya a year ago, she had been a stray, living on the streets of Northern Ireland. BCT phoned us regularly to check on Freya's progress and to make sure the adoption was going well. A really special thing happened recently when a birthday card arrived for Freya to celebrate one year in her new home. The card was actually hand written, making it even more special and personal. A lovely touch.
Personally I am biased towards Border Collies. I have had them as pets since around 1992. As a man once said to me - there are only 2 breeds of dog - Border Collies.....and all the rest

Excellent overall experience.
I was able to reserve the dog I was interested in and bring her home the same day to save travelling twice to the centre.
The staff couldnt have been more friendly or helpful.
I would recommend them to anyone looking to re home a border collie and I would certainly use them again.
Many thanks for a lovely dog.

Very impressed with the set up.
Dogs well cared for with lots of space for them to exercise & tyres etc. for them to run through.
Excellent & helpful service from the staff who obviously care for each individual animal. They do checks on prospective owners & make sure you know as much as possible about the dog, advise on food etc. all vaccinations, neutering, micro-chipping, worming & flea treatment done. 4 weeks free insurance & can ring them anytime throughout the dog's life for advice.
Anyone wanting a border collie of any age, should go here.

We were very impressed at the time and support we were given to find the right dog for our family, my daughter was 4 at the time and we have another collie who was 2 at the time. We probably spent about 2 hours at the centre before leaving with the dog we rescued who was named Foxy but we renamed him Cormack. After an initial settling in period he has grown in confidence and his health has improved. He has settled into our family very well and is much loved by us all.

We have adopted 3 dogs from Border Collie Trust GB over the last 5 years and have had excellent service from the staff. All 3 dogs were described to us accurately and we have been able to seek further support as and when required. The Trust does a brilliant job and I would recommend this rescue without reserve.

Very friendly staff with dogs health and well being on mind, highly recommend! Helped us through process of picking most suitable dog, to suit our lifestyle! Let us spend as much time as we wanted with chosen dog so we could make sure was right one, great questionnaire to fill out before viewing any dog, checking on suitability! Clean, mess free place, also not allowing people to walk round kennels as this upsets the dogs is a very good idea!! In whole a very pleasant experience!!

I was brought to this shelter by the sheer recommendations of others and my love of collies, I have since sent several people who have adopted dogs and been as happy as me. I will continue to send people as these are the best in their game at BCTGB.

This was a really wonderful place. All the staff were welcoming, supportive and sensitive to both the dogs and adopters needs. The care and love for these beautiful dogs was plainly evident. We can't praise them enough. If you are dog lovers, have a suitable home and garden and looking for a loving, lifetime companion then this is the right place to start.
