I have had 5 Heathlands dogs and met many more, they were all in foster homes which I believe is the best way for them to be assessed for their new home. Your survey is not worded to cater for animals in foster, so many of the sections were not relevant you need a n/a category in the questions. I always check if Heathlands have a suitable dog when I need one and they have always let me meet suitable candidates. Gillian gets it right as I have not yet met a dog that was the wrong match for me. It is quite hard to get through on the telephone but that is because the phone is just one, busy person's phone. Please don't think its a shelter with loads of staff, its not.

The rescue is run solely by volunteers so (understandably) contacting them is not always easy, although they always return your call. They have a variety of different breeds so there are plenty of options to adopt and the fosterers know their animals so well you get a good insight into the animals temperament before you make your decision. Heathlands is a small rescue run entirely by volunteers specialising in Border Collies but also taking other dogs and cats.

I love the fact theta they will offer a rescue place to disabled or elderly dogs. I have two blind dogs from this rescue both of whom would have died if Heathlands hadn't taken them.

They are kept until the right home is found for them. Every potential home is home visited and care is taken to match the correct dog with the potential home.

Heathlands have an army of dedicated fosterers and animals are placed in foster homes where possible.
