This is the second time we have adopted a cat from this rescue centre and both times it has been a positive experience. They are very helpful and answered all questions well. I'm sure if i need any further advice then I could contact them. They are very busy and it is quite difficult for them, so sometimes people do require a little patience. All in all a very good place.

The members of staff were very engaging and informative. They had good background knowledge of their charges. We were furnished with all relevant information on each cat so we were able to make our choice based both on the cat's requirements and our own. The intention was obviously to put 'round pegs in round holes' and the procedure was a success because we now live with Sid, a big bruiser of an ex-stray who is settling in well. The staff pointed out any shortcomings that may mean that we are unsuitable for a particular cat or, indeed, vise-versa. I would strongly recommend this homing centre to anyone, the staff have taken the time to get to know their cats, the cages and surrounding areas were spotless and hygienic, ample hand sterilisation points were provided and staff were actively engaged, with those who needed it, to assist socialisation prior to homing

The service provided by Cats Protection Nottingham was outstanding! The vast majority of staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly and were quick to offer advice and assistance on first of all choosing a suitable cat, as well as offering a lot of advice and helpful information on caring for the cat when they are home. As a first time cat owner, i would definitely recommend them to anybody who is unsure or needs advice while adopting a new furry friend. Despite just one volunteer being somewhat rude and difficult, the overall experience was very good and I couldn't be happier with my choice of rescue, and with my newly adopted best friend.

I was looking for two kittens, I rang the centre to ensure the two I had seen on the website were still available. They were polite and friendly on the phone and invited me to visit.
On arrival, staff were friendly and informative. I was allowed to look around and spend time with the cats. I think this is important to ensure bonding and that the animal is the right one for you. There was no rushing and I was allowed to spend as much time with them as I wished. Giving me the opportunity to fall in love with a brother and sister, aged 13 weeks.
Although an experienced cat owner, I was new to owning kittens and had numerous questions which the staff answered with expertise. I was offered the opportunity to purchase a blanket to take home with the kittens that had a familiar smell on, to help them settle. Brilliant idea and only £2.
I returned the following day to collect Jean and Billy. Again staff were brilliant, efficient and helpful.
My life has been thrown into turmoil! The house is a mess and what was the easiest task is now a nightmare with two kittens. But I am loving it, and wouldn't change a thing. Now renamed as Wilma and Stanley, I love them. They are loving, funny and filled the house with life again. As I type this they are both asleep on my knee.
I can't thank Nottingham Cats Protection enough. They were brilliant. Thank You.Review by: Buster

Very clean and secure rescue centre. Staff genuinely care about the cats, and you feel comfortable contacting in future with any queries. All cats seemed as happy as could be and were very well catered for - plenty of food, drink, shelter and toilet facilities. Our cat is adjusting really well to her new environment and some of this must be attributed to the care received while at the centre. Would happily recommend and use again in future.

I would recommend this cat rescue. A home visit wasn't made, but the cat knew me and I it, as it used to be a neighbours cat. They moved away. I only had to change the details on the microchip and the cat had already been neuted . The pens were clean and the centre had already taken the cat for a health check up at the vets.
The staff were friendly and obviously loved cats. I think it is a good rehoming centre.

The whole process was thorough and efficient. My initial telephone inquiry was answered promptly, clarifying the process and allaying fears of the unfamiliar procedure. At my visit, staff clearly cared for the cats they were talking about and gave clear information about their histories as far as they were able. They asked questions to better understand our needs and match them to the needs of the cats in their care. Very impressed with the whole process.

Fantastic choices of cats and kittens were given, correct information and best advice! Amazing perfect prices and good customer service. in order to achieve the cats protection's goal which would probably be to give every cat a good home, i say when an adoption takes place the adoption should be done straight away... Other than that no problem was experienced. When i adopted my kitten there was no hastle but some time was taken. All the best advice and information were given. I've had to give lower marks in some areas as some things weren't offered, e.g. Home visit, and advice re handling etc. I personally didn't need these as I've already adopted from CP before and am an experienced cat owner, and perhaps this was the reason this wasn't offered. They were so helpful I'm sure if I'd needed additional advice, it would have been available as they seemed very knowledgeable.
I might have liked a bit more info about my cat's previous background, but to be fair I was so excited about getting him I forgot to ask, so this may have been why I didn't get this!
Overall, I can't recommend them highly enough. The cats were well looked after and it was obvious the staff really cared. We were treated really nicely and given the space and opportunity to choose a fantastic kitty, who we're really happy with.Review by: GailKeen

My husband and I attended the Nottingham Cats Protection in the hope of giving an abandoned cat a great home.
After visiting and falling in love with Bubbles, the team were fantastic at guiding us through what to expect and how long the process would take (Bubbles was micro chipped and they were in the process of attempting to contact the registered owner).
After agreeing to proceed with the adoption they reserved Bubbles and kept us firmly in the loop with how things were progressing, with it taking a further 2 weeks for the situation regarding the previous owner to become resolved. At this point they also supplied us with several handy booklets giving advice of caring for an adopted cat and had plenty of items we could purchase (at very good prices!)
When we were finally able to collect Bubbles, again, the team were fantastic at taking the time to talk is through how to care for the new member of our the family. They also talked us through the likes of follow up care for Bubbles and items like pet insurance. They then finished by handing us bag full of goodies and making it clear they would be available at the end of the phone if we needed them.
Absolutely brilliant team and experience, from start to finish, and we wouldn't hesitate adopting from them again in the future or recommending them to family and friends!

A clean and tidy rehoming centre with a warm welcome given. Animals' needs were well provided for and all questions were answered in a professional and well informed manner. The team were able to give details about each cat and what their needs were. The cat we chose had a health condition, and we were well informed about his needs now and in the future. Plenty of advice was given about integrating the new cat with our current cats, and some questions we had were well answered. We were also well advised that the centre team are there for support in the future if we have any questions. Our new cat is happy and settled in his new home.

Their service has been professional throughout, from an excellent telephone manner, to extended personal attention when we visited to view the cats, and providing loads of really detailed helpful advice. The centre is literally spotless and each cat is looked after with all necessary vet treatments until they are healthy enough to be homed. We have just adopted our new cat from the branch and the staff gave us some really great tips about her character and how best to interact with her to help her settle in. I had to take my cats to the rescue centre to be rehomed as one of my cats had been poisoned along with many more in my area, This now made it unsafe for them and no longer able to go outdoors, which they all loved doing. It was heartbreaking to hand them all over but the staff at CP were very sympathetic and kind, they even let me see them in their new temporary homes.I checked up on them every day over the phone which must of drove the staff mad! but none the less every time I rang everyone was always really kind to me and reassured me that they were all fine.Within the first day of my cats going up for re homing two of them were reserved for great new homes!! I cannot thank CP Nottingham enough for what they have done for my beautiful cats and also me ! I am starting to feel happier that although I no longer have them to myself, I know that they will be happy. To all people reading this review please, please donate whatever you can to this rescue centre. The staff do a fantastic job in looking after all of those poor cats and finding them all happiness again. I was made very welcome on my visit on Monday 16 March 2015 when I first met the cat who now lives with me. I was clear about the age, gender and appearance of my preferred cat and the Centre was able to show me two cats who fit my bill. One of these seemed to take to me very readily and this is the one I now have. I returned to the Centre on Thursday 19 March by appointment and was able to sign all necessary paperwork and collect my chosen cat with absolutely no difficulty whatsoever. The Centre's staff were all very professional and knowledgeable in their approach. They clearly had the best interests of the cats in their care high in their priorities.

You can tell with no doubt that all the staff/ volunteers do care about every single cat in the rescue. They are able to advise which cat could be the best match for you as they know their temperaments and characters. I adopted two black cats. They had come from the same home originally, but each had their own kittens and so they had been housed separately. When I said that I was interested in adopting both girls, the carers kindly placed them in adjoining pens to make sure that they got on with each other. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I welcomed the homing check as this showed how much care goes into ensuring that the cats go to suitable homes. The adoption fee was reasonable and included a starter insurance policy.

Myself and my husband adopted a cat from cats protection last month. When we visited the centre, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We looked around at all the cats and the staff were on hand to let us know all about the different cats we went to see.
We really fell in love with a gorgeous cat called Harry (we now call him Lord). We filled out all the paperwork for Harry and were given detailed advice on how to care for our cat, what we needed, amongst other really useful bits of advice. The centre also provided us with leaflets and were happy to answer questions.
The following day we returned to take our new cat home. He is such an amazing cat who we love dearly and I cannot thank cats protection enough for the love and care they gave him before he came home with us. We recently adopted our second cat from Cats Protection Nottingham, and would wholeheartedly recommend this rescue centre.
The centre itself is clean, spacious and the cats have plenty of toys, food, shelter and litter. There's comprehensive information about each cat in the centre, and the staff are extremely knowledgeable, open and honest about the cats histories, health, ages etc.
Our chosen cat, Blossom, had been in the centre for over 6 months, after being found as a stray. She had been neutered, vaccinated, flead, wormed and clearly had had a lot of attention from the staff - they were genuinely sad to see her go! We have kept in touch with the centre on Facebook, posting pictures to their page, and again, they're genuinely grateful to see that she has settled well with us!
Pre-adoption information was excellent and thorough; we had previously adopted from this centre as mentioned, and so they didn't need to perform any house visits, although they did still provide lots of great information about creating places to hide for new kitties, insurance, diet and more. They also gave us a free bottle of Feliway to help Blossom settle in!!
So, in short - the kitties are extremely well looked after, they're happy and content but would be even more so in their forever-homes! We thoroughly recommend adopting from Cats Protection Nottingham and will always support them wherever we can - keep up the good work!Review by: mattpharrison

My experience of adopting a cat from Cats Protection Nottingham has been nothing short of excellent at every stage of the process. We came to the centre with specific needs: I have young children with autism and next year we'll be having an Autism Assistance Dog placed with us. I was extremely impressed by the staffs' knowledge, expertise, professionalism and motivation to match us with the right cat. They did a great deal of socialisation work with our kitten, as they do with all the cats, and alongside this they provided a lot of education and support for myself and my family. The care, attention and dedication of the staff that went into the matching process was beyond excellent! We now have a beautiful new member of our family! On this occasion we adopted our third CP cat, Lulu, who has now been with us a bit over 2 years. She was a 1.5 year old cat at the time of adoption and had been rescued after having kittens and living out in a shed. CP Nottingham were wonderful as always having sorted out Lulu's vaccinations (and arranging the second set) and neutering. We love going to CP Nottingham because the branch is very well maintained and clean and the cats are very well cared for with lots of attention. You really get the idea from the sheets identifying them and listing their habits and behaviours that the CP volunteers spend a great deal of time getting to know each animal so that they can find the best home for them.

Over the last 13 years I have adopted 6 cats in total from Cats Protection League Nottingham. This branch has been professional, caring and supportive every time we have visited or adopted a cat from them. Our most recent visit was no exception.
We were greeted and asked to fill in a sign in sheet that included information that assisted the friendly staff to guide us towards the most appropriate cats for our home environment. We felt supported during our visit and were impressed with the centre's hygiene standards.
Each pen was clearly marked with the cat's names, history, medical information and other important information such as suitability with children, dogs, or other cats.
Upon identifying a cat that we wished to adopt, we were talked through the process efficiently and any questions we had answered. We were provided with information sheets on introducing our new cat to our new home and introducing our new cat to our existing cats. The staff handling the adoption were highly knowledgeable and went through our new cats history in great detail.
This centre is quite small in size so repeat visits may be required to find the perfect pet. However, it is obvious upon visiting how well the cats there are cared for. Their website is well maintained and easy to navigate, I also find their facebook page a great resource.
I highly recommend this centre if you are considering adopting/rehoming a cat.Review by: Mark Dobson

Prior to visiting, we looked at their website many times, reading the details of all the cats available to see if one matched our needs(we wanted a male cat, & one who was a different type/colour to previous cat's we'd owned). We called at the Rescue centre & were delighted when the cat we hoped to adopt was still available. Rascal was very shy, which we didn't mind as our previous cat was also extremely timid at first, & although he didn't want to come out of his box to meet us, we were assured he was a lovely friendly cat, just very scared, & this has proved to be true. We collected him a few days later, & the paperwork was completed throughly, & his background, character & general health was discussed, & we arranged to visit the Vet the centre uses so Rascal could have his final vaccinations. Everyone we saw was very friendly, & efficient, & we are delighted with our lovely cat. He is still timid, but gradually becoming more trusting,( & starting to live up to his name) & we know that if we have any concerns we can contact the Rescue Centre for help. Their web page is excellent, as is the very popular Facebook page. If we ever want another cat, we will have no hestiation in using this centre.

The staff are really lovely and helped us pick out a beautiful little cat with no pressure and all the time and advice we needed. We were kept up to date with her progress as she was not able to come home with us straight away and booked a date for collection as soon as she had the all clear from the vet.We have been given a very comprehensive medical history to hand over to our vet and the offer of as much support as we need. Our little cat settled in extremely well and 2 months on its as if she has always been here, she is a lovely little addition to our family and we couldn't be happier with our experience at Cat Protection Nottingham. We can't praise the staff enough. We adopted two gorgeous cats from them - Bruce and alistair. The staff made the whole process as easy as possible for us despite there being an outbreak of flu at the time, they kept us constantly updated. We were also quite nervous about getting two cats who didn't know each other but the staff were able to assess the ages and general temperaments so we were comfortable that they would probably get on (although there are never guarantees with cats!). The staff genuinely care about all of the cats in their care and do their best to meet their basic needs as we'll as giving them lots of love and affection. The youngest one we had was 16 weeks old when we picked him up and had spent the majority of his young life at the AC but you can tell he was loved and handled by the staff as he is so adorable and affectionate. We are definitely now life long supporters of cats protection and especially the nottingham branch. We love our new additions and are just sad we can't give a home to more cats. I asked loads of questions as never owned a cat they were all answered and I was not made to feel silly either the process to adopt was so easy. The staff where very knowledgeable about all the cats, would highly recommend the centre as my Izzie is getting used to us and there's so many beautiful cats/ kittens looking for a new home go and have a look . I challenge any one to go and not end up adopting one of the beautiful bundles of fur. Thank you guys for all your help hopefully once izzie has settled in ill update you with pictures.Emma xxx. I've had 2 cats from Nottingham Cats Protection now, both times it has been a very easy process. Lots of helpful advice, a great setup with happy cats waiting for new homes. If looking for a cat or kitten in Nottingham, this is the place to go! Adoption: July 2013

On visiting the kennels, the staff were very imformative and polite, when we went through to the kennels all the cats were very friendly and the kennels were very clean. the cats were very comfortable. We adopted and 2 year old cat, she is a very happy cat, so her experience in the rescue must have been good one. Adoption: June 2013

The staff at the cats protection were extremely helpful right from my initial query, through to collecting my new cat last weekend.
It is clear from the discussions I have had with them that their only priority is the cat's welfare. The shelters themselves were very clean, with plenty of room for the cats to exercise and play with toys and scratching posts.
The whole process was made clear to us from the start and the ongoing communication I have had over the last few weeks has been fantastic.
A very well organised shelter, with friendly, knowledgeable staff. I would definitely look to adopt from them again in future. Adoption: June 2013 -

The shelter was very clean and the cats happy, It was reassuring to adopt a pet with all vet checks in place including neutering and vaccinations wormed and flea treated. Although the adoption fee may seem expensive it was well worth it to know you are getting a healthy cat with no health problems I did think it might be worthwhile to sell supplies as we needed to buy things and we would have bought them there to help support the charity. Thanks anyway for a lovely pet. Adoption: May 2013

The Staff at Cats Protection in Nuthall, Nottingham showed the highest level of care for every single cat at the shelter, with a full knowledge of each cat and its individual requirements and behaviour type.
The cleanliness level was also outstanding.
It is also clear that each and every staff member cares greatly about the welfare of the cat's and is keen to make sure each cat is well looked after both at the shelter and at their new home.
In addition, they were very supportive in helping me adopt my lovely little cat from the centre, with a full record of her past and any further information I needed to know.
I couldn't recommend a place to adopt a pet from more. Adoption: April 2013 -

Staff were polite, helpful and very knowledgable about the animals in their care. We had specific requirements due to an existing pet in the home and the staff were able to match us to the perfect cat to rehome. Home visit was arranged quickly and the adoption process was smooth, well explained and competently done. Having had experiences of adopting from other resue centres this has to rate as one of the best. Adoption: 2012

I was contacted by telephone from a staff member explaining that kittens matching my requirements we now available for adoption. I visited that day and reserved 2 of the litter. Everything was explained to me very clearly; the 24 hour cooling off period, having them neutered and spayed, the insurance etc. My home visit was arranged very swiftly and the lady that came was so informative and made really sensible suggestions on how to settle the kittens in. Collection day was really well organised. My kittens were ready to go, the paperwork was completed and I was home with my kittens. The facilities at the CP struck me as extremely well organised and clean. All of the staff were familiar with all the cats in their care, and welcoming and friendly. There was a genuine feeling that they really do care for and about the cats. It was a very positive experience and I have recommended them to friends who have shown an interest in adopting a cat. All in all a very positive and happy experience. Adoption: May 2009
