I applied for one dog as per the rescue's website instructions and as I was late, having been held up on motorway from Wiltshire, the dog was brought to me at reception so I did not see the conditions in which the animals are kept. However my dog was in very good condition, was clean and did not smell particularly strongly of kennels. I board a small number of dogs in my home so it crucial that my own pet is happy with other dogs coming and going and is very friendly. Allsorts were brilliant in understanding my situation and I am sure would not have let me have a dog who would be unhappy in my home. Molly had been chipped, spayed and even has a euro passport with rabies vaccinations so I not only have a new fur baby but a travelling companion too. My brother and his family (including 10 year old twins) have also adopted a fantastic little dog from Allsorts. I would have no hesitation in returning to Allsorts for a brother or sister for Molly.

We adopted Duke a black labrador approximately 4 weeks ago. He has been settling down very well and has amazed us how he has related to us, our grown up children and grandchildren. Everyone who meets him loves him. He learnt to sit and lay on command in one day, offers his paws and spends every day out with my husband in his lorry.... he is very well behaved and has stolen my heart already.. After 3 years without the 2 x dogs who we lost from old age Duke has brought all the pleasure back... he is an absolutely wonderful dog...I regularly watch the website to see that others are finding homes and hopefully they all will quickly. Already registered as a homechecker, I was still grilled by all the staff about my previous dog experience. They watched me with Murphy, particularly as I wouldn't say he's a 'beginners' dog. However, 2 months down the line, he's a happy healthy teenager who absolutely adores everyone in our house. I think this was a very good match and I am pleased I was allowed to be custodian of our lovely house donkey.
Allsorts work hard to ensure that people have realistic expectations before and access to a wealth of knowledge and support after adoption. Many of the dogs have no history, being rescued within days/hours of euthenasia, so it's sometimes difficult to anticipate every problem. However, It's immenselyr rewarding to help a rescue dog to a happier life and, unfortunately, there are so many rescue dogs who need homes. Allsorts do a difficult job very well and I would urge anyone considering a dog to opt for a rescue. Adoption: March 2013

Lovely place, clearly passionate and dedicated to the dogs. We lost our much much missed dog last summer, and eventually summoned up the courage (yearning!) to get another dog. Well, we fell in love with one from Allsorts, and it was easy, friendly, helpful and fast. And they love getting pictures of him.... :). Adoption: Jan 2013

The lady who runs Allsorts Dog Rescue is lovely, and genuinely cares about the welfare of each of the dogs in her care. We got a fabulous Jack Russell/Dash cross from Allsorts who she had rescued from Ireland. The description we were given of him was accurate, friendly and informative, even though she is clearly very busy. Our new dog is really super and the few queries we have had about him have been followed up by Allsorts as soon as they are able. Allsorts is a fabulous rescue and I can't recommend them highly enough.

I am very sorry that you feel we did not meet your expectations. Allsorts has run for 25 years as a Non Profit rescue surviving purely on donations and voluntary helpers. Dogs are local, from GSPCA or from AHAR (who take dogs from an Irish pound). The dogs are assessed in their rescues for approximately a month and some of them are transported over (£80.00 per dog). The dogs are not allowed to travel with our Defra registered transport unless they have proof of vaccination.
On arrival at our kennels, dogs are checked by a vet. A contribution to neutering costs is made if the new owner requests, but I do not have enough funds to pay for neutering in full. I am currently sending funds to Ireland to get the dogs neutered before they come over - as the cost is half the price. Homecheckers are experienced with the dogs best interest at heart. They will make immediate contact following a homecheck so I can arrange to get the dogs into their new homes as soon as possible.
The donation of £150.00 is exactly that, a donation. This money is used to pay vet bills (average £2000 a month), kennel rent (£1000 a month) and food (approx £300 a month) and more on cleaning equipment. Every penny goes back into helping the dogs. I do all this for the love of the dogs and so do all the volunteers. All I want to do is save these dogs from death row and give them a better life with a new family. I do not and never will sell dogs.

Very caring. Our first choice of puppy became unavailable but prior to that we had a call to assess our suitability. Reference was provided by our vet. When another litter of pups came along we were contacted to ask if we were still interested and we collected the puppy the same day. Although experienced dog owners we were given plenty of advice and contact was easy via their website/telephone. Allsorts is an excellent dog rescue charity who work tirelessly and hard. We saw the dog we were interested in on the internet, so contacted Allsorts to find out more. Some history was passed on to us. As the dog was still at her previous home, a home check was organised quickly. The home checker was very friendly and informative. They were keen for the dog to be rehomed without her having to go into the kennels. As we already had a dog, we were able to take them for a walk together near the shelter to help them get to know each other. We were given lots of advice on introducing them to each other and were allowed to bring the dog home on trial for a week to make sure they were going to be ok together. This was a great help as I would have found it difficult to judge how my dog would react to a new dog until they were in the house together. Luckily they got on well and we adopted her. She was not spayed so we agreed to get that done. About a year after we adopted her, we had a few problems with her behaviour. I emailed Allsorts, and was given the number of a behaviourist who was able to help with advice over the phone. I was also given the chance to return her to the shelter at any time - reassuring if the problems had been major, but we love her to bits so this wasn't an option!
Overall, I feel Allsorts very much put the dogs first. Help is there if you ask for it, otherwise they are spending their time rescuing other dogs. I would definitely recommend them, I would use them again, and I would urge people to speak up if they are having problems as help is out there. Adoption: Nov 2012

We were very lucky with our beautiful setter cross from Allsorts. After indicating our interest in the dog from the website,we were contacted and home checked that same day! Our lovely dog arrived a couple of days later and has never left. We are still in contact with Allsorts and found the whole experience a happy and fulfilling one. I would certainly recommend homing a rescue dog! Adoption: Nov 2012

We registered our interest in a dog online and I received a phone call in the morning. A lady came out that afternoon to "look at the garden". She asked what dog I was interested in and asked me to log on to the website to show her. About 20mins after she left, I received an email saying "have passed your home check. Would you like to pick the dog up in the morning at at about 10-10:30". The dog would cost £150 but was not neutered, micro-chipped or vaccinated. I'd stated that I already had a dog and young child and I needed info on the dog - but there was no history. Our first dog was from the Dogs Trust and our guinea pigs are from the RSPCA - we have been approved by the Blue Cross for a dog for the future. I would like to see Allsorts Dog Rescue providing a service, communicating, attempting to find the best match between dog & family rather than just selling. 2012

What an amazing place with wonderful people.
I got a very quick response to my application for a puppy. In fact I had a message the same evening and a phone call in the morning inviting me to come a meet the pup the same day. They must be very busy looking after all the animals and yet had time to check and respond to my application so quickly. There was no pressure to take the dog. I knew that they just wanted to find the right home for the dog. Our puppy had been brought over from Ireland where she had been on death row and had been seriously ill with the parvo virus. She had been nurtured and nursed back from the brink of death both in Ireland and at Allsorts The people at Allsorts work tirelessly and unselfishly to give the dogs a fresh start and a good life. We are so grateful for our lovely new family member and couldnt have asked for a more caring place for her to have been. I regularly watch the website and can see how vigilant they are in trying to find the right home for each dog. It must be exhausting both physically and emotionally. Admiration for Amazing People. I cant praise Allsorts enough for what they do, they were very prompt in everything they did, and when we went to Allsorts we were allowed to spend as much time with him and there was no pressure whatsoever. I was given as much information as they had on him. What people need to remember is when rescuing from any rescue organisation they will only have a limited amount of information on the dog. I have had our boy nearly a year now and all i can say is well done Allsorts for giving these dogs a chance of happiness. I would most certainly go back to them. Adoption: May 2012

We were amazed to find out that all those involved were volunteers, incredible what they achieve. They wanted the best for the dogs in their care and that was obvious. They cared about us as well. Would recommend for anyone wanting a rescue dog. Adoption: March 2012

Very quick to respond to request to adopt a puppy and collect it. Pup had received first vaccination and in good health. Did not receive any follow up calls to check it was ok..but could be because they were happy that I would look after it whatever.
Would always adopt, the pup was my third adopted dog and one I had for 16 years, one which is now 14 and have adopted another pup since. Adoption: 2012

I rescued a 16 month greyhound bitch called Molly around April 2010. She is a wonderful dog, the people that run the organisation I got her from were pleasant, informative, friendly, lovely, kind, chatty and understanding.
Allsorts Dog Rescue work really hard with their dogs, this was easy to see on our arrival, they keep us regularly updated on fund dog shows they run and are regularly contacting us to see everything is ok with Molly.
Just superb, fantastic, wonderful, amazing place and people! Adoption: 2010
